Anyone else struggling with sodden paddocks?
its winter what do you expect?
Not 40% of our annual rainfall in 6 weeks which is what we have hadits winter what do you expect?
I leave ours but .. they are on the only ( rocky ground) dry ish bit of the whole farmIt's getting a problem here feeding sheep outside where there is no hard standing, because it is now so wet. Is it best to leave a feeder in one place and let them trash that area which can become quite big or move the feeder when they've finished a bale?
I have one block which has some old quarry holes and that is ideal, but unfortunately a lot of the land lies wet, I would often house some before Christmas but can't do that this yearI leave ours but .. they are on the only ( rocky ground) dry ish bit of the whole farm
Power grid did us a huge favour, they paid us to allow an access track to a pylonI have one block which has some old quarry holes and that is ideal, but unfortunately a lot of the land lies wet, I would often house some before Christmas but can't do that this year
Yeh, since julyAnyone else struggling with sodden paddocks?
We have had 3 inches over average by middle of November .1.5 inches on Mon. still time for a couple more yet . Turning into a very wet year !A strange one at that! Not 40% of our annual rainfall in 6 weeks which is what we have had
I did this yesterday - took a gamble to load up some sheep in the field and drive over the owners lawn rather than load on the guys drive as I didn't want to make a mess on his nice gravel. Got stuck on the lawn and ended up unloading and doing both. I my defence the lawn felt like it should take it and he was supposed to have the proper field entrance cut back so I could use that. Maybe not going back next year!Defo makes being a grazier difficult. This time of year sheep are still on seasonal let's before coming home. Happy to wreck my own, but don't like wrecking other people's paddocks/laneways.
