6ml sunday
39 monday
19 up till noon today.

another 8 ml in nov, would have made it double last nov rainfall.

if you haven't got waterlogged, count yourself lucky.

but winters like this one's wet start, was why we were so pleased to house all the cattle 50 yrs ago, it was sheer hard work.

those that promote outwintering, probably never experienced water logged fields, and we haven't had a really awful wet one, in years.

it has its advantages, and also its disadvantages,

It's getting a problem here feeding sheep outside where there is no hard standing, because it is now so wet. Is it best to leave a feeder in one place and let them trash that area which can become quite big or move the feeder when they've finished a bale?

I have one block which has some old quarry holes and that is ideal, but unfortunately a lot of the land lies wet, I would often house some before Christmas but can't do that this year
Power grid did us a huge favour, they paid us to allow an access track to a pylon
It’s now got ring feeders on !
I thought about a big stone pad to feed on , but keep going up the hill to the rocky ground, my concern when it’s really muddy is foot problems

I’m really wondering where all the rain has come from.
It’s just relentless!
The grass has kept growing which so far has meant that my farmed deer haven’t made the mess around their feeders that I was expecting. But it’s beginning to get really bad now.

Just how much longer can this constant wet weather keep going?

Moving the ewes today, so that they can run under a big 3 bay shed for feed and shelter. Running out onto a drier, but poor grazing area.

Gateways were mostly stoned a few years back with a Grant, and boy does it pay dividends at times. Got one narrow "chokepoint" that will have a walkway put in with Mudcontrol slabs as I am not a fan of stock in mud.

Rather impressed with these. Put a number down for feeding sheep on the solar farm, as I would not be much appreciated if I fed on their access track! ;) So I laid a 3m x 4m area on the grass just off the track. Can get the Kramer with haylage bales to the ring feeder now.

Defo makes being a grazier difficult. This time of year sheep are still on seasonal let's before coming home. Happy to wreck my own, but don't like wrecking other people's paddocks/laneways.
I did this yesterday - took a gamble to load up some sheep in the field and drive over the owners lawn rather than load on the guys drive as I didn't want to make a mess on his nice gravel. Got stuck on the lawn and ended up unloading and doing both. I my defence the lawn felt like it should take it and he was supposed to have the proper field entrance cut back so I could use that. Maybe not going back next year!

Always a pain when you can't do right for wrong. I tend to ring each month with my plans so there isn't a shock when they find a grass lane way paddled up. Impossible not to make a mess sometimes, but often pays to apologise in advance.
