How rough did you feel after your first jab?

Well 18 hrs late a slight swelling at injection site, could have been a dirty needle, no headache or flu or temperature.

If you call 2 asking questions through car window at entrance plus security,
2 at car park telling you to park anywhere
2 pumping sanitizer at door,
4 asking for booking number from your unsanitized phone that you had in pocket and now touched with your sanitized hands.
2 telling you which is the shortest queue that you have to stand in.
And being injected by a student that they wouldn't allow to inject cattle for a tb test!

Efficient way to waste money IMHO but then I did see how they wasted money with F&M control as well!

Maybe it was different setup where you went but I had mine done in totnes this week, almost entirely manned by volunteers. It was in and out with no fuss or bother, they kept the car park and registration and everything else flowing beautifully.

Should I have grumbled at them for “wasting money?”

There are some miserable tw*ts on this forum. Get this. The world doesn’t owe us a f***ing living.

I asked about the Covid jab last year at our surgery. They couldn;t do the Pfizer jab, but were planning for the Oxford jab at around half an hour per patient, which included fifteen minutes lying on the couch and being checked for symptoms by nursing staff. The paperwork would include giving you a passport with date of inoculation. Bed space was going to be the limiting factor as couches etc would all need cleaning between patients. Think they had streamlined these plans by the time I got mine. ;)

Had no ill effects from the 7 vaccinations I have had this year to date apart from the second pfizer covid dose which they warned me would make me feel rough. Yep, 12 hours later on the dot I was in bed shivering, joint pain and sweating buckets. Drank a litre of water, nurofen plus and slept all day. Woke up feeling better.

We had ours last week. Both a bit off colour 24hrs after but nothing really, fine the following day. I had read that the second dose was worse because your body recognises the spike protein immediately ;)

This is all useful info for the authorities bearing in mind this is all a medical trial (which you are supposed to be 'asked to understand' before the jab - not my experience), and all issues will hopefully be ironed out when the trial is over and the vaccinations can be deemed safe for human use.

The anecdotal evidence is that the AZ has milder side-effects with the second dose. Whereas the Pfizer has more severe side-effects with the second dose. Although, only around 25% of people getting the second Pfizer actually reported any side effect. Also the older you are generally the less severe any side-effect will be, either from the first or second jag.

That’s a relief. I’ve had the AZ first one, and it was bleeding awful about 10 hours afterwards. If I thought the second jab was going to be worse I think I’d get a note from my mum, excusing me.
I’ll put it down to my age, being a mere 42. And the fact that I’m a massive girls blouse, according to Her Indoors.

The feeling bad is likely due to the amount of protein your body produces.
The mRNA in the vaccine instructs your body to make the virus proteins.
The amount produced varies from person to person.
There is greater variation in ths az vacc because it uses DNA to first instruct the body to produce a varying amount of mRNA before that instructs the cells to make a varying amount of proteins.
Therefore you have a double amplification of variation with the az vaccine.
Too much protein can cause blood to thicken and clot in a low percentage of cases.
Mostly the protein production variation prob just causes varying correlated side effects.

Interesting! we had a very mild reaction. Just tiredness for a day. Our son (35) had fever cold sweats and tiredness for 48 hrs.

It may be that young people will generally produce more protein in response to vaccine, also likely to have a healthier immune system reacting to it.
It's a one size fits all policy on the amount injected.

Mate had AZ first jab and Pfizer second. Felt rough after the AZ but ok after the Pfizer. Why the two different jabs?

@DaveGrohl Right, with regard to the way we react to the vaccine and how rough it is for any given individual... I've just opened an e-mail from my GP cousin and she wrote '... excepting inevitable outliers, youth and health are the determining factors, so if all other things are equal the younger and healthier an adult is the stronger their reaction will be. But we don't think it means any greater protection...' I note she specified adults, so I guess there is a point at which youth may no be so advantageous, but that's just my guess. I also note that it's nothing to be worried about in terms of what the vaccine does for any given person. (y)

I have an invite (instruction) to go to Follaton. Is the AZ one all they do an do they tell you?

Has he been signed up for an AZ, Pfizer mixed trial as there are a couple on-going atm. Defiantly one in the UK, I don't know about France. Would have to ask the BIL if there are any obvious risks or downsides, but I wouldn't think so.
