Painful Neck, Sharp Pain in Brain, Pressure Headache

Did some spraying this afternoon. Minerals on cereals. Exercise and activity seems to help and at least takes my mind off the brain fog or whatever it is. I think I’m gradually improving. I did test for Covid recently and it was negative but I might have had it January. It’s around here, so could be after effects.
Thanks all for the helpful advice especially with pillows.

The pillows situation has been a bit of a journey and I’m not quite there yet. My shoulders are broad so with a thin pillow when I turn on my side my head drops down with neck at an angle. . When lying flat, as long as pillow is thin my neck is straight which as you say is best. So I’ve scrunched the edges of the pillow up so when lie on my side the pillow has more thickness and keeps neck straighter. I really need a pillow with a hollow in middle and thick at LH and RH edges but none seems available. Orthopaedic pillows with a thick bit full width are useless as when laying flat neck is kinked up.

I've got a stiff neck and left shoulder. I blame a heavy postbag pulling into my neck before I got a van round with Royal Mail, but that's by the by.
I always sleep on my left side. If I've been on my right side, it must kink or trap something in my neck and I wake with a sickly headache and pain up into my head and down my shoulder.
I've had physio and acupuncture on it, a CT and an MRI, and basically, a few vertebrae are compressed in my neck. I've some exercises to do to try and stretch it out, but the best thing I did was buy one of these:-

You can play around with how much water you put in.
I still sometimes wake up 'wrong', but you can't always control how you lie when you're fast asleep, but in general, I've been a lot better with the pillow 🙂

Sorry just seen this thread and haven't read it all.

I have very similar symptoms and mine is related to tightness of the tendons and muscles in my neck and shoulders. I have a monthly chiropractor appointment and a regular sports massages and it keeps it at bay.

Mine is a result of being pretty much housebound at 30 due to illness that lasted 3 years, I have not regained the suppleness and movement in my upper body that I had before that.

Maybe similar. This is the first winter for twenty years that I haven’t spent driving a 6 ton beet harvester with manual steering. I’ve been hanging about looking after the Mrs getting much less shoulder exercise. And yet this is the winter that neck pain struck. Bodies seem to thrive on exercise within reason.

That is exactly what my chiropractor said. Before I was ill I played football and squash up to 5 times a week as well as doing a physical job. Three years of little more than bed rest is a real shock to the system.
I am now fully mobile but have not been able to get back into sport but am active at weekends on the smallholding but long periods at my desk during the week do me no favours.

I’m still experiencing a pressure headache that comes and goes and a sort of dizziness as well as the neck pain which I think is separate. The more I hear though, the more there seems to be some kind of virus going round that is causing brain/head symptoms. It could be Covid after effects or something else but I’m reassured it’s not just me in this district anyway. Two other folk locally gone to hospital because of suspected strokes that weren’t and they can’t seem to get to the bottom of the ongoing dizziness and headaches. A really odd sensation. I’m having physio on my neck. It helps a bit but the neck was a problem before the onset of the headaches and dizziness and I’m not entirely sure they are linked though they could be. Anyway I’m still functional and alive so that’s OK.

Theres a virus affecting the inner ear that's been around since before Christmas. Headaches, nausea, dizziness. Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry, haven’t read the whole thread, but have you been to see a good physio? I know a young lad that fell out of the top bunk a few years ago and wasn’t right for months, had headaches, fatigue, nausea and all sorts, ended up seeing a physio for some other football related injury and this came up in conversation so the physio had a right good look/feel of his neck and reckoned he knew what was causing the problem, can’t remember if it was a pinched nerve or something, but a few massage/manipulation sessions and he was sorted. Maybe worth’s try if you can find a good one?
