Arthritic hands don't take well at all to doing a lot of work with old school secateurs and I was considering buying a power tool equivalent.
I normally buy Milwaukee for cordless power tools, but everything else here is M18, so going to have different batteries whatever...

We've been asked to do some repairs and fabricating of stock gates. It will fit in well as can do as and when along with plenty to go at. They will provide all materials, we'll supply labour and tools inc welder, most will be done in our workshop. Whats a fair hourly rate?
Around five years on from this thread, what is the going rate for hedge cutting nowadays? I know it will depend on location, supply/demand, etc etc, but it would be interesting to hear what everyone thinks. And how much more a heavy duty hedge cutter (for some thicker/taller stuff) vs a...
I am looking to buy some protective trousers. The chainsaw chaps I have are a trip hazard.
While looking at new trousers in online stores I noticed that the bulk of them are rated type 1, for up to 20 m/s. I have two older semi professional Stihl saws and their no load chain speed is only just...

I have a little ozark 250, in the last year or so it has developed a habit of miss firing, this occurs when you apply a little bit of throttle from idle, it will cough and splutter. It's noticeable when driving slow behind a flock of sheep or decending a slope with only a little throttle on...

Our boundary hedge in our garden (owned by us) is next to the farmers field. He refuses to cut the hedge on his field side (which was always cut in the past) and won’t let anyone into his field to cut it. We cannot reach the far side at the top as it’s too wide. Can he legally stop someone...
We employee three staff on a busy arable farm. They are paid hourly with overtime at time and a half. We run decent modern kit.

My thinking then to cement in a steel met post...
What's the situation with using a rubber track excavator to do some work on roadside hedges?
I have a large roadside hedge to tree shear. Most I can do from the field side but some would be a lot easier with the digger on the road. It's a 5.5 tonne so a not massive.
I often see roadworks men...
Due to a planned retirement in 2024, we have an opportunity for a skilled operator to join a small and tight knit team working on a farming business in northern Lincolnshire. The primary responsibility for the successful candidate will be that of the application of liquid fertiliser and...

I had one of those moments earlier today, when someone asked (again) do we have free power from the PV site here. The answer, as ever, was no.
But, rather dangerously, I started thinking on this more, as we are in the early stages of a PV and battery site. Again, I will believe it when I see...
