Yes it's a manual 2.7 V6 diesel and yes the cheaper to tax version

Cambelt done - has good, regular service history, electric handbrake was done last week, I know its the weak spot on these cars

Private sale, a friend of my wife was selling it so also know its been treated well (school run car) for the last 6 years of its life
not many around with that story & poss not much hassle for a while, there cert well able to do what they do,
These ones the Garage folks used would often pull 5ton no bother.
Plus the best thing was you could save the clutch if pulling away with upto 3.5t on the back in low range & flick it into high on the move
fantastic idea that was. & flick it back into low for reversing as that what killed the clutches on the manuals being in too high a gear pulling away.
oh i heard plenty about these the lads had.
I once went to help rescue one with handbrake jammed on, 4 wheel skates & winched it onto a tipping flatbed truck it was lots of fun !!
Recon they had one every other week with that hassle for quite a while

It was just them electrical gremlins & huge cost of servicing harder to do stuff is where the money go's
Yeah i remember the lads on about the Road-tax change it was in 2006 i think you could buy one after whatever month it was & the tax was nearly 3times more?
they soured a few on the older tax once they realized

You're saying you can start in 1st low range and flick to high range when moving? I thought you couldn't do that, great if you can but thought you had to have the box in neutral before swapping between ranges.

well you might need the Main Gears in Neutral i cant remember but you can free wheel like 5-10mph for sure & flick between Hi-Lo i was in them
several times seen this done, as we used to talk about it saying that made such a diff over the manual lever range change in the TD5 as you had to be
still to do it

This doesnt matter so much with the Auto's as i guess the torque converter would take up the slip
Even better on the later 8 speeds in the D4's i guess lo range would hardly be needed

just to add the hi/lo gbox must have a syncro on the change i presume?
Its a bit like changing from forward to rev in a modern 6 sp manual VW gbox you can do it whilst freewheeling obviously just rolling if you get what i mean,
where as in my old Suzuki Vitara, there is no way it will let you engage it into rev unless your totally still.
Poss the Disco in Q might be the same as the VW gbox i cant remember its been about 7 years since i drove one
