1.5 °C is....toast

Gloomy picture from Cop27.

In the spirit of wanting to help our fellow humans across the world and actually believing the science..

What target should we go for...some seem to think net zero..
That doesn't take co2 out of the system..
The Welsh government want to plant trees everywhere.
Some folk think glueing ( hydrocarbon based no doubt) themselves to stuff is the way to go..

What do you think.. ( remember, as my economics lecturer at SH said.." let us assume.." that the science is correct..

1.5 is so far past toast it’s a burnt cinder on a hotplate. They keep talking about it as if it’s possible. It’s bizarre. Even if (and if is doing a monumental amount of heavy lifting) countries were to stick to what they’ve promised so far then they’ve admitted 1.5 deg is toast anyway. The fact they won’t remotely stick to it is neither here nor there.

Listening to them banging on about achieving net zero by 2050 is beyond pathetic. Even that magical unicorn has no power to stop it. Who tf do they think they’re kidding? Sickening.

What Vlad might or might not do will have a bigger bearing on the climate than glueing oneself to the M25.
Or a volcano might wake up and that's a few hundred £BN cancelled out ...🙄
what a load of bollox
spend the money where it's needed / if it's needed to sort any problems that the weather may cause,
not try to second guess what it's going to do and tax us for the privelage , they can't ' guess ' correctly what weather going to do next week never mind 5/10 yr time
And they will be on their gold platers by then ....
Follow the money !

I may be completely wrong, BUT I have the feeling that in the past 30 years there does not seem to have been many major Eruptions compared to the previous 30 years. Thats as far back as I can remember.

From what I remember from High School lessons, Volcanoes cause a great deal of particles (ash) to rise and spread over large areas of the atmosphere greatly reducing sunlight (radiated energy) reach the Earths surface and causing cooling of the said surface.
Is the initiation of a few Volcanoes the answer?

It would of course kcuf pu the aviation industry, but so what.

I’d rather not assume the science is correct, as a livestock farmer I keep hearing the climate change experts banging on about how ruminant livestock are a major contributor to climate change and that eating less meat will help to save the planet.

What a load of complete and utter Bollox. The methane expelled by ruminants will break back down into carbon dioxide over a relatively short timescale and was formed from the plants that those animals had ate , plants that had taken that carbon out of the atmosphere, it’s called a carbon cycle and is a relatively simple concept that anyone who claims to be an expert should thoroughly understand.
Furthermore these ruminants have existed on this planet for as long as us humans, why does anyone believe that they are now suddenly a major problem, surely if they were a problem they’d have been a problem since the beginning of time and not only that, their numbers in this country have been diminishing all my life so again, how come they’re suddenly a major problem? Simples, they’re not, it’s all a load of Bollox…………and it’s relatively simple.

So, if the experts can get something relatively simple completely wrong, why should I have any faith in anything else they say. For all I know everything they say is a load of Bollox.

Why on earth should I assume the science is correct? Probably be a safer assumption to assume the science is wrong

Tbf you’re confusing the actual science with the propaganda campaign that has been going on for some time, backed by an immense wall of money that carries humongous influence and strangles anything resembling debate. Of course, there are an awful lot of scientists who don’t actually understand the science as well. They are a real problem.
