Can anyone explain how a roll of wrap at £60 ish wraps 20 bales so £3 per bale of wrap yet a baling contractor charges £11 per bale wrapped and £3 per bale unwrapped
Does it cost £4 per bale to put the wrap on?
Making 500 bales a year would be £2000 against a wrapper.
For the last couple of years if you went to your local merchant and bought say 10 rolls of decent quality wrap you would be paying £85 + for a roll of wrap so more like £4.25 per bale just in plastic most contractors are £4 + for round baling alone then add to that they could be waiting to get paid £11 starts to look very reasonable. If the contractor decides to buy 6 pallets in January to save some money that’s his decision not the customer.

Yea but don't you know that £4 a bale is just for the wrapper, so contractors are raking it in every farmer should go buy their own wrapper theyd save a fortune
Farmers may as well buy their own balers also because when they all get their own wrappers contractors will sell their combi balers and say sod it.

Could it be coming back a bit?
Phoned merchant today about prices. Said they’d been offered a couple of new to them brands around the £57-£58mark.
Advised to hold off as they are waiting on Silawrap coming out with a price but thought it would be there or thereabouts.

Silawrap is 3 layer i'm sure. Had from Davidsons before and it was not the best.
