How are people finding these? Looking at them as an option to feed dairy heifers on straw and corn as opposed to out of a bag. Is it realistically accurate to “set” it to 3kg/head/day? Thanks
Would be nuts only, realistically possible to restrict them to 3kg/each then you think? Would negate the need for feed space as well as making it less of a job filling a hopper with the loadall bucket whilst also having the benefit of little and often feed as oppose to once a dayAre you just using cracked corn ?
We use these feeders for out wintered calves , tried blends in them but you have to have them opened up to much to get it to flow if you where wanting them down to 3kg.
Cake you will get down to 3kg but find in damp weather they can clog up when there are shut down .
There designed for grain really so if your corn is just cracked I would think it will run well enough that you could shut them down to 3kg or less .
Haven’t done, wanted to see how others go on more so first! They’re not cheap
How much are they?you could save me a phone callHaven’t done, wanted to see how others go on more so first! They’re not cheap
That’s not as daft as I was expectingThe 1800 is roughly £1600
What do you feed them? 4kg blend and strawI’ve only ever used mine for ad lib feeding, had heifers on straw and used my own blend in them.
Just filled it up when empty,ad-lib.What do you feed them? 4kg blend and straw
Have you one to sell if you don’t use it anymore?Just filled it up when empty,ad-lib.
I feed them tmr now, nothing gets pushed out with tmr.
How many kilo/day were you’re heifers eating on ad lib? You didn’t fancy trying to close it down to restrict intakes to 3kg or so I take it? That would be the plan hereJust filled it up when empty,ad-lib.
