Final interviews have taken place with the successful candidate being named this month.

Who would you like to see in the hot seat and why?

Let's try and keep this thread positive !

You! A person who questions the status quo!

Tradition dictates that it's an ex NFU president? I would like to see a break from that In fact I would quite like to see someone with a good CV and track record in a completely different industry maybe?

From what I recall though I'm not sure the pay is really enough to attract anyone of serious high caliber??

So who would you like to see in the position?

2nd post in thread and someone is being negative already!

I'm not aiming to be negative, I would just like to see a different approach to the past

No individual name really springs to mind if I'm honest but as above I don't think they have to be from agriculture even

for 104 days work

there are only 227 working days a year so it doesn't leave a lot of space for another job of much resistibility, don't get me wrong it's not bad but it's a big job with a lot of accountability and responsibility for the wage. In other industries the comparable role with be significantly better paid which is why I doubt it will attract anyone from outside of agriculture?

Obviously you're not a stock farmer with only 227 days worked a year?

Bit off topic...but.... Would like to see the various sectors levy boards run as independent organisations, is there really enough of a positive to run them all under a umbrella organisation? With the extra layers of bureaucracy that entails?

Seems to me that decisions have to be signed off by the chair of the umbrella organisation,
Didn't Kendle block a ad campaign that Beef &lamb wanted to do?

I agree with Clive. For that money you might as well not bother having anyone as you aren't going to get anyone serious who will commit to it full time.

What kind of corporation only has a chair that works part time?

I think you maybe surprised !

If the jobs PT its PT?

Come on Sid. Is the AHDB a serious, full time organisation or not.

You don't want my view as it would involve removing any kind of mandatory levy, charge or payment off the backs of farmers and leave everything at the mercy of the marketplace.

It's a role for strategic direction and inspired leadership.
Deliver AHDBs role post brexit
Etc etc

It's all on the Defra website.

Think there are enough management below to ensure day to day running. There are many roles that do not require full time commitment.
Is this one of these, I dont know tbh.
