BBC rubbish

In the seventies, lights were about the only thing a British bike was better at. Japs were were particularly poor in those days, especially Honda funnily enough.

I had moved to Oriental machines by 76, and don't recall... I remember having an RD250 that had an awful light and I hung a rally spot light off the fork leg for touring. Surprisingly, the alternator kept up.

.....and now the media are kicking the government for their 120,000 tests figure because it includes 27,000 posted out tests that haven't actually been processed yet.

Who cares - in 2-3 days they will be.

The govt set a target of 100,000 tests a day - they've blown it out the water with 122,000 up from 80,000 yesterday and 50,000 or so the day before. That's incredible, yet all the media wish to focus on is whether they may or may not be the right side of an arbitrary line based on a target set 6-8 weeks ago when tests were in single figure thousands if that.

The whole testing thing seems to have turned into a shambles since they rapidly expanded it in the last 3 or 4 days.
It is totally pointless just handing out nasal and tonsil swabs through the car window or in the post and expecting someone to get a useful sample. You just end up will lots of false negatives. IMO at the moment until a saliva test becomes widely available, it would be better to do half the tests with trained staff and at least get the samples right.

In the 70's I had a SL125, CB250, CB500 and a CB750F1 all the lights were dire. I tried doing the spotlight thing with the SL125 but being only 6 volt made it a non starter literally. The GT and GS750's I had were a bit better but nothing special. But apart from the lights and a bit of questionable handling they were all excellent bikes for their day. :)

And can anyone tell me the value of a post out pack , which time it is returned and processed, you will be either dead or recovered. Just like in the F&M when they were not slaughtering for 2-3 weeks , by which time the disease had been passed on a dozen times.

through the 1960’s to the era of Mrs T , the media gave British industry a very easy ride. They were never criticised for making crap , it was all the fault of everyone else when British consumers gave up on traditional local made products. Those beastly little Jap bikes , cars whatever were only cheap because they were made by downtrodden semi slaves paid a pittance, those machines would never last like a trusty Autin , Morris , Norton etc.
if the media had picked up on the fact that our product was very often appalling quality, from the steel used, the engineering to the paint finish , put together by a workforce whose only reason for being there was to extract the maximum from the company for the minimumof work.
if the media had done a better job then, instead of kowtowing to the idea that they must not rock the boat, we would have been a far wealthier nation .
it is a very left wing idea adopted by all totalitarian regimes across the world, throughout history, that governments and the elite must not be questioned. It is very surprising how many on here, criticise the BBC for not supporting the government in many issues , such as the testing, but then resent the BBC for supporting the government on lock down!

What a superlative piece of public service broadcasting from the BBC, it its dramatisation of the Salisbury Poisonings by Russia.
One is reminded of the immense danger of Russia, and indeed the paucity of information coming from the government on the whole issue. Didn’t Johnson promise to release a statement on government findings earlier this year! Then he back tracked. Makes you wonder what’s really going on.
In any case, in the era of fake news, right wing undermining of free and fair press, Trumpism, Cummingsism (a particularly dangerous new force), Farageism and other right wing would be autocrats, given the chance, it’s reassuring that some broadcasters continue to serve the people, and serve up the truth.

I've not watched it but talking to friends in Salisbury it wasnt very factual according to what they knew working in the security service .
If you believe the bbc serves up anything that isnt in their agenda then you are misinformed

Russia was brought to it's knees in the Glasnost Gorbachev era.

The Russian people were given "Shares" of previously state industries - at the behst of Harvard Professors, a "Western Economy", massive inflation and no state income to speak of .. which led to bread queues ..

Which led to those in the know offering food for those shares.

The net result was the Oligarchs and concentration of power in very, very wealthy people - some of which are linked with Clinton and the "Dodgy Fake Dossier" against Trump..

The fallout from that was the rise of Valdmir Putin who has managed to recover Russia - which is good for everyone in the world considering the 1,000s of nuclear weapons - which hopefully are at least under military control.

Your rubbish aout the "Right Wing" given the wholesale takeover of almost all the media & state organisations by the Left is beyond stupid.

Hopefully this infatuation with "Black Lives" after 50,000+ people have died pointlessly at the hands of the Left - who control almost all autorities and organisations - will backfire on the Left.

About time there was a wholesale clean out .. London needs sanitising and the Left thrown off the planet.

at least with concentrated power, this c19 plague, would have been easier to control, the do this -or else, look a damn sight better, than complaining like hell, about this guvs handling of it, and then ignoring what they are told to do !

Really?so murdoch doesn’t own much of the press in this country including sky? The only truly left wing mainstream media in this country are the guardian the mirror parts of the independant and the daily star ! Combined readership of what 1.5 million. Wow scary.
Personally I think many confuse political correctness with left and right but really it’s just about making sure everybody is heard and understood. If this means some on the right have to think about what they are saying reference race that’s a good thing just the same as those on the left having to think about what they say about Jews.
Sadly currently mainly due to social media proper discourse between left and right does not exist so,both groups go around not understanding why people could possibly disagree with them because all their friends do!
It’s a,lonely place here in the middle. Hopefully some day people will come back and visit. It’s a great place.

Well, if your security services member are of the type which loosely talk about investigations, and drop inside information to their friends and associates, then it’s no surprise that foreign agents, can swan about in broad daylight, and poison folks at will.
I dare say that however is not the case. It’s probably just folks in your circle pretending to have the inside track from their imaginary MI5 agent drinking pals.
If you believe the beer talk served up by your friends, you are sadly misinformed.

BBC and truth don't add up i'm afraid. Why did they pull Saving Syria's Children from yt and all other streaming services.
