What about a ‘dutch texel’??

That's no different to a Beltex, selected on the same traits but in a different country. They are all just Texels ultimately, marketed under different brand. ;)

The Dutch Texel Society allows you to register a Beltex, but the Beltex Society doesn't allow you to register a Dutch Texel with them. A Dutch Texel breeder did once tell me how many rams he'd sold into Beltex flocks though...

Politics eh?

If this doesn't prove breeds are an artificial construct and status rubbish...

It's types and genotypes which are important.

I don't? Just pure Shetland draft ewes.

Will be putting a ruck of Shetlands to inverdale texel tups this autumn though. Should be awesome little ewe

put them in a lot of sales as texel crosses and nobody will batter an eye lid 😂 hell Iv even seen auctioneers call out things as such 🤦‍♂️
