We use this to help resurrect 'twin-lamb' ewes, but have just been told it's being discontinued by Norbrook and there is no direct replacement.

Have you guys n girls got any ideas?

cheers

.. anyone know which rates of Red Top, Mag and Glucose to mix together to make a bottle of Blue top?
Sadly I didn't pay enough attention in chemistry lessons  ................

......even if I had, it's that long ago, I'd have forgotten how to do it by now:scratchhead:

You should be able to work it out using 'moles' .............

........:banghead: no, not that sort.

Anybody got any kids doing O level chemistry?

Quick google reveals that it’s half the strength basically. Double it or half it whichever way round you need. I’ve only ever had red top and use it for sheep, 60-80ml depending on size and how bad they are

Yes. But no glucose and the mag. Part will be a quarter at half rate if you swim.
It will be cheaper than the 6 was looks like and to treat straight forward staggers theres magniject 9 .

I've only ever used the Red Top, at 60-80ml/sheep, as above. It has a small amount of Mag in iirc, but if a ewe is down with staggers, I'd give her Magniject instead. I've never felt the need to give glucose to those cases tbh, but would give a prop glycol drench if I did.

I keep a bottle of Magniject and a litre of Ketocol in the fridge, but it might last several years (or many years in the case of the Magniject). Calciject is used a bit more frequently, unfortunately.
