First thing would be to tell us which country you live in - the grants are different in England, Wales, Scotland and presumably also Timbuktu.

I'm in Scotland, and planning one from these guys:

How much is it costing on data to run these 4g camaras? Do they only use data if u watch through it? And if there recorded do they still use data? I'm undecided if these at £300 to £350 would be better as a wifi linked one.

And do.they have a built in microphone?
Thanks

Just set ours up. £210 camera from Livestock Cameras. 50 m of earth net cable @ £25 and an antenna Gismo @£40 ,both from Amazon went together easily and gives a good picture. Has a two way microphone which frightened the life out of me the first time a voice boomed out of the shed roof in the dark.
Hoping to run other cameras off the antenna.

I've a Vodafone unlimited data sim costing £23 ppm in mine. I think it goes offline when its not being viewed as there is a slight lag when you connect. Image quality is really good, can even read eartags when zoomed in!

We've put up 4 wifi cams in the shed , i bought a router and mounted that up in the middle of the main shed, all 4 cameras connect to this via wifi then run an unlimited sim card for £20/month with smarty. We activate the sim in January then cancel it when we finish calving in may. Works well for what we do with it.

I fitted a cheap one during the week. My shed is at the house so 50m of ethernet cable took it to router in house. Whole lot cost me £100 I only have a few so wasn't going to go too fancy. Ps. That's a wee bull calf In the pen not a springer

We've just put up a Farmstream static WiFi one (£85). Ethernet cable from house WiFi to central shed and a router in there.

Glad we've done it. For now we've mounted it in main loose housing shed on a moveable board we can take into calving pen when required. See about some more next year.

Thought the Rag'n'bone man had turned up at the farm yesterday but it was my uncle talking through the camera.
