looking at one of there feeders TF350 any down sides with them and what spares would be worth having on hand with them
keep in mind im not just down the road
been feeding out sheep nuts. getting a bit old hat. using 18 kg buckets have a grain feed but good luck knowing what 50 kg of nuts looks like when feeding out. hence why going to a metered. type feeder.
any tips and tricks with them would be great.

Thought you fellas in the land of milk and honey dont do hard feeding, just grass grass grass.....
hahahaha would be 1000's of tons of grain and sheep nuts feed out over here. we have been feeding out sheep nuts since before dec this year
rainfall here this year about 15 inch which is about 1/2 normal rain

why looking at feeder seen ewes pick up late milking as feed dropped off. when we started feeding out nuts
pre mating to try and lift lambing %
and over winter instead of feeding out bales

Nothing in NZ like it?

We‘ve a Chapman mounted on its second season.

Small gripe is the control box is slow button wise, sometimes will work first push, sometimes not, like it’s got a timing on how long you press the button for.

You not looked at 3 in 1 feeders? Be a bit cheaper just grain rather than nuts. Can fill them with loader bucket to.

nuts at the moment are 800 kiwi a ton derived in 1/2 bags barley about 400 a ton kiwi delivered.
did think of spraying mins and vitamins on to whole grains as dropped
have looked at. feeders in paddocks. they are around 2300-2500 kiwi each so big cost to get a few of them for over lambing etc but then dont have to fill them every day.
at moment. 2 kiwi to the uk pound just for simple maths on prices

Wow! Looking dry JD! 😳😳
yep driest we have every been culled off lower ewes and some older ones hoggets away on grazing so lowest number of stock on the place and buying in feed
cull out will be ok tho as the older ewes were the at risk group over lambing to drop dead better to get the coins now
bottom ewes mostly repeat singles. and ones that are higher input to keep weight on shy etc etc. so main ewes now mostly sound ewes with higher scanning figures
silver lining of dry times look over. management. and trim back the dead wood

Never used a Chapman but have had alot of years using a logic and they look very similar.
Logic control boxes are bombproof and so is wiring, a little windscreen wiper motor turns a disc which opens and shuts a slide these are fairly bombproof but may be worth haveing a spare if parts take weeks to get to you. On the disc is a sensor which counts drops and stops the slide in the correct position when finished, this will go every few years so worth haveing a spare.
Wheel bearings and a heavy duty hitch to weld on is worth haveing spare as well

Dry winds too I bet?

Water sources for the stock holding up ok?
dry winds over summer the whole area dry some guys were selling ewes with lambs at foot back in nov alot of stock away grazing
stock water touch and go at times been a few times had to put stock in to areas with springs as main water supply slowed down too much
most guys saying worst dry season they can rembour
but thats farming on a wee island in the middle of nowhere
lease ground with water on it could be 1400 kiwi a Ha plus 900 kiwi for water a year then pumping costs rates fert etc etc so out of price range for sheep and beef. be only dairy and cropping guys.
could be cheep spuds coming up being flooded with cheep chips from Europe
