Correct way of driving John Deere IVT/AutoPowr ?

Can someone from JD or with very good knowledge about it clear once and for all how to drive those gearboxes coz I see a lot of youtube videos slowing down with the lever.
My way of driving is full hand throttle in the field, on headlands I press full foot throttle to the floor and move hand throttle back so I can slow down, turn and drive back, then again hand throttle to the max.
On the road I drive only with foot throttle and slow down either realeasing the throttle or if I need to stop faster also adding foot brake.

I think I do it properly ? I see some guy driving new 7R with full throttle and on the road just accelerating and braking with the lever, I think that is worst way to drive them. He has like 20-30t slurry tank behind him.

Can someone clarify since most people do it wrong, US guys dont even have foot throttle. I think braking with full hand throttle makes some weird things to the tractor, I think 6R can not stop if the hand throttle is not completely back.

Do you move the lever to slow down or turn the knob ? IMO knob is for those who cannot move the lever slow enough, it should do same thing.

Knob is for setting and changing max speed.
For example round baleing no1 set to 10k no2 set to 20k and I'll work the lever into the slide of no2 to fill the baler pickup when I need to stop to net a bale pull the lever back to no1 and give it a little brake and into reverse .

Spreading fert set no1 at 14k when I come to the end and want to slow down to turn just pull the lever back till I'm happy with the turning speed maybe 8k or so then when back into the tramline just push it forward.

It doesn't get any simpler than that surely.

As above, all field work, hand throttle flat out and change all speed with stick, on the road, pretty much drive it like an automatic car, stick right to the end and throttle and brake to speed up/down. Pulling out of junctions and laybys, hand throttle flat out and stick to get up to speed, especially with a load behind. I drive everything with the hand throttle as i have no use of my legs

Well if you could only see how much people drive it like hydromat combine.
I dont use Field 2 at all in the field, I think it is only for transport/road usage.

Depends what jobs your doing as you'll get different torque settings in the different ranges, also if pto is engaged it gives different throttle settings, my old 7530 did anyway, not driven a r series but I presume they are similar

"Speed bands 1 and 2 can be configured to aid operators with instant speed selection in transport or field applications. Speed band 1 is commonly used as the field operating speed and speed band 2 is commonly used as the transport speed. However, there may be times when configuring the speed bands differently could improve operational efficiency.

Examples:

During field operation - Set speed band 2 for the desired working speed, and speed band 1 for end-of-row-speed. When approaching the headland turn, pull back the speed control lever to speed band 1 and make the turn. When the turn is complete, push the speed control lever to the end of speed band 2, and the desired working speed is commanded.

During transport operation - Set speed band 2 for full transport speed and speed band 1 for turning. When approaching a turn, place the speed control lever to speed band 1, turn the corner, and then extend the speed control lever back to speed band 2. Transport speed will be resumed.

When coming to a stop, let off the foot throttle, pull back on the speed selector lever (reducing both engine rpm and ground speed), and then depress both brake pedals (locked together). To resume movement, simply release the brakes, depress the foot throttle, and move the speed selector to the desired position."

They tell in the manual to move the lever back the whole time on the road and in the field, but why ? It says move the lever and slow down and only then press the brake. I just release the throttle and brake if needed.

When on the road or turning on headlands I drive it in manual mode and have the stick all the way forward in 2 and just use the hand throttle to accelerate, to slow down I just bring the hand throttle back and brake if necessary. 90% of field work I do with IVT is powerharrowing or rotatory hoeing in which case I have the hand throttle at max and speed up and slow down in the 1 range. I never use the foot throttle at all.
