Dairy farming wellies

Two or three pairs of these so they can air out between hot summer milkings.

Not so gutted when I rip a hole in them, either...

I’ve had many pairs of Muckboots, don’t think they’re made as well as they used to be though. So comfortable and warm plus the top of them isn’t flared so you get less straw etc in them. Trouble is I’ve “hard heels” and wear the back lining out in 6 months ish and then they can rub a bit. They do two types of sole too, the chunky one is rubbish on smooth surfaces for grip apparently.

Wore dunlops and bekina here for years as thats what local farm supplies stock but they only lasted few months, wear swampmaster now and gettin a year from them at not too bad price and comfortable after couple days use, id be interested in those extratuf if ye can get 2 years but on a quick google search they dont go up to size 11?

Bekina stand out as the worst wellies I ever bought, after a week I could hardly walk my feet were that sore, went back to Dunlop’s as at least they were comfortable, unfortunately they don’t last very well.
Currently on Nora max, cheaper than Dunlop’s, although my first pair developed a rough spot inside making a sore spot on my foot so have just bought a second pair……….the insoles they come with are crap.
I’m not sure the perfect wellies exist.

I looked but couldn't cope with the sock thing !
Don't wear the sock in mine, plenty warm enough without it, sock made my feet too warm and went a bit sore. Been wearing them for about five years, a pair normally lasts one and a half winters (too warm for summer use). Have to bin them because sole wears through rather than they start to leak.

I’ve tried all the wellies and nearly all only last me around 5-6 weeks if lucky. I wear them up to 15hrs a day. They are all just dirt. Hunter was the worst.

The only two wellies I would buy on based on how long they last before binning is Muckboots and Le chameau Cérès. Muckboots are the most comfortable, better for my back and they are without doubt the warmest, however they fall apart after or within three months and they are a death trap on concrete.

Le chameau Cérès is the best. You will get nearly a year out of them but they are far from comfortable. Very poor and you can feel every stone or twig you step on. Useless in the winter for warmth. They are one of the coldest wellies I have worn during the winter. Also they have slightly better grip on concrete than the muckboots but not a lot in it. Both can be bought for under £110 if you keep an eye out for voucher codes.

Both are far from perfect but no other Willie comes close to those two.

Bekina steplite.👍

I bought quatros and they’re the heaviest wellies I’ve ever had,I only use them as spares, feel ten years younger when I take them off.😃
Same. I wish someone had warned me about them, they are like wading in concrete. The Dunlop's, with a big split across the steel toe join, that they were bought to replace are back in action on dry days!

I'm known as the Imelda Marcos of wellies here 😳 and I'm still searching.
Dunlops and Bekinas are ok with a better insole in them. After my last pair died I went back to an old pair of Xtratufs that I'd parked up in the porch. Thought they were great but my heels have been killing me all week, and I can't walk by night, so I've parked them up again.
Ariats have no padding at all in them, so they're parked up.
My Aigle are about the best, but seem small after a break from them. I think it's because I get chillblains these days and need a bigger size for my gnarly toes 😩
I got some Musto ones which I loved. They were comfy, warm and didn't budge an inch on concrete but the quality was crap. Three months tops before they split 😕
I need comfort first I think, nowadays. I'm slightly flat-footed and my right kneecap doesn't run in it's tracks properly so aches a lot. Maybe I need good insoles rather than searching for wellies that don't exist 🤔

Hunters went busy recently... I mean they were owned by a company that didn't much care for built quality for a good amount of time now, but I'd imagine some other company will buy the original hunter design and sell them on ASOS or something, forget about your Argylls and all the rest

Definitely get some good insoles. Sounds like you would be eligible for NHS podiatry, (I am) , I really notice a difference if I wear a pair of boots without my orthotics in.

My 3 girls would probably love them 😄
I believe Hunters are shocking for grip 🤔
yes i suppose that's because of the traditional /bulls eye type tread pattern, thick bars across ways i suppose all right for grip straight ahead but lethal on hard slippery / sideways ..
but they all grip a bit better when theyre worn in a bit /got used to.
