Anyone run one?
Any strong opinions either way?
Like the look of the eco drill, potentially interested in finding a 2nd hand 6m, saw one at groundswell few yr ago, like the apparent simplicity of it. I’m a simple person.
But….
Seed hopper on big wheels behind the coulters. I’m in Scotland, can get pretty wet any time. Would seed pick up on wheels, would compaction be an issue? US, Canada, Oz all manage to pull much bigger seed carts behind the coulters.
Does the press wheel close/consolidate the slot well?
Be for grain and fert, predominantly early osr after WB, wheat after osr (which has been lightly disced to chit/slug control), cereal after cereal, potentially also wheat after potatoes. Also green covers etc.
Currently run p/h combination and either plough or karat ahead of it. Been trialing different types of drill last few yr and come to conclusion that there is a benefit on our land of the soil movement afforded by a tine. Tried disc direct drills and the osr is consistently a week to 2 weeks behind going into winter compared to where there has been a leg thru before. 2 wk of osr autumn growth here going into winter makes a big difference.
Interested in thoughts.
Thanks
