Demand for vegy / vegan food and drink seems to have increased so much...

Demand for it seems to be increasing. My local Sainsbury’s now has a fully vegy isle like Asda does, and no meat counter anymore. I can’t say it’s not worrying since 10 years ago clearly that wasn’t the case. I was looking it up and milk consumption is all time low. (I used to be a dairy farmer but changed now to veg etc) part of the reason is because of this shift from consumers, and ultimately don’t want to be out the job!

Not many dairy farms would typically be suitable to veg production I suggest. What crops do you now produce etc?

The USA trade deal will push this further. U.K. produced food in years to come will be organic. Everything else will be imported. It’s another reason ELMS has been developed.

Nothing wrong with putting vegan food in an aisle, same as putting all the booze in an aisle, helps find it.
Nothing wrong with plant based food, farmers grow plants, its the gloop controlled by the corporations to watch.
Bigger picture: Time to promote the environmental benefits of meat and dairy maybe ?
Bigger picture: Shouldn't be going to asda anyway. Market share is the root of all evil.

Interestingly I grabbed a costa coffee from a local garage the other day and fancied a flap Jack to go with it , they had all sold out except the vegan flapjacks 🤢 which hadn't been touched
So just coffee it was ...

I was in a Costa in Bristol at the end of January. A pasty looking woman in front of us ordered a vegan ham and cheese toasty. I was desperate to ask her what she thought she was eating but decided against it!

Given that we may have Covid on the run by the New Year, I’m not looking forward to all the imbecilic claims being made during next ‘veganuary’ - particularly on BBC radio where they seem to be able to crowbar it in somewhere into every current affairs program and even a lot of the news broadcasts.

I tend to tune out for January and listen to old podcasts instead😕

My local Morrisons veggie offering is reducing in size.

Local coop regularly has all their marked down to clear before the best before.

Suggest it's more prevalent in the London / Brighton corridor of "trendy media fudgeery".
At present supermarkets are reducing their number of Vegetable lines whilst demand is up as people are eating more at home the supermarkets are taking this opportunity to make it easier for themselves.
Where my daughter is packing fruit and veg in London they aren’t allowed meat and allergens in the break room so she bought a Greggs Vegan Steakbake for lunch what I don’t understand is if eating animals is so bad why do people want to eat vegetables that are made to taste like a cow surely the premise is as bad as the act. What if they made a human bake pie obviously we don’t eat people but would eating a vegetable human alternative be ok.
