If you want to calculate the volume of a cylinder, which is effectively what a round bale is, then you need the above formula and use height.

We had a 6/5 Claas and welgar rp180 , put sleeves in them to make 4 ft 6 wide bales used to make 7000 smoke when into red and back door opening , and Popeyes arm pulling bander put 3 tubes on in end to make it quicker

True, but if you just want the difference in volume if the area of one is 56% more as pointed out earlier multiplying both areas by the same height the difference won't change

Cylinder Volume is pi r squared X height
Since the height is constant , you dont need to count it

You don't even need to remember the equation for the area of a circle, the only thing that's changing is the radius

Then because your only after a percentage increase in volume, just use the diameter for easy counting.....

4²=16

5²=25

Increase is 9/16= 56.25%

Use 25% more wrap for 40% more volume

What extra would you get in a round bale if the same bailer did 4ft and 5ft bales , belt baler , thanks

Folk have given the answer but a few years ago I baled for a livestock place . They had a straw bedder so anything decent was done in 4 foot that could be rolled out by hand if wanted . Anything a bit rawer was solid centre 5 footers for the blower . I was shocked how much faster I could bale say a 40 acre field .

The savings would make 5 foots a no brainer for me unless they need to get loaded onto trucks

Think there made in Italy or parts are sourced from there.pretty sure vicon pump the money in to the development of it.you can get it badged as a vicon or Kubota.
