Drilling Headlands

Always drill the headland last whether using a trailed or mounted drill. Quiet often you will have marked the headland width out with wheelings when you sprayed the land off so its not difficult to map out where you need to start and finish each bout.

Headlands last, if it’s damp I’ll send someone in with the ripper to loosen aswell, I’ve been caught out before with wet compacted headlands.
Although this year I might have to drag out the mounted drill if 2024 keeps giving.

When i had my 1st trailed drill we would mark the headland with a cultivator to give a mark. So 4 turns round with a 6m. All on gps now so just go where i like. Very handy with steep fields

It depends. With a drill that might struggle to cut the seed into driven on ground, I would do the headlands first. Some farms I've worked on with Rapid drills did the headlands first, some last.

Otherwise, do headlands last. I have a spray wheeling mark to work from so planning ins & outs isn't difficult.
