I would be very very surprised if that had been over looked by Tinman.

Certainly a fine example of engineering , but its looks so well , it seems a pity to dirty it.
I wouldn't like to have to pull the cheque book for it though.

@tinman, first class work as always! Wouldn't really be expecting anything different at this stage though.
I do have a question, probably a stupid one and there is no doubt a real good simple reason for this but why do the third bar from the toe and the second one from the hitch finish flush and the rest protrude a bit?

it saddens me to say it but im not.
its still on the cards but there is a few jobs to be done first, which is going to take some time, i would be doing a bit at her if i had the space but where i have is the main floor of the shed and for the last 12 mths ive been fairly busy in it, im sure it ill die down sometime but its earning its keep so the payin jobs have to get preference.
in saying that only just today did i finally get a nice bit of 200x200x12 box for the drawbar so im kind of still gathering, but id have 80% or more of her now.
i also want it worthy of this thread and not the bodge one so all in good time i guess.
i think id be happy if i had another 3 sheds about here..:D

i have that small garage press to build first tho as id be wantin it to bend some stuff...
i have all the bits for it too.
time is the biggest killer, for me anyways.
we got extra help there about 8 mths ago and my god dose he take up some time and i wouldnt mind, i only do a bit of the work.
i think ill get the burdisio's out soon as i think ive done my bit and as much as i love them, id like my life back sometime.
Its all good tho, it could of all changed 18 mths ago over the fall so im just glad to be here tbh, ill get it all done some day maybe.
one thing is for sure, if i won the lotto, id keep ye all well entertained...:ROFLMAO:

Congrats on the wee addition to the clan .

Congrats on the wee addition to the clan .
all goin well that ill be the end of the clan, im just not so sure if i have her brakes on yet....

there is no doubt it ill be close, but the back of the hitch is flat so it should go, there may indeed need to be a bit ground off it but i was looking to get as much strength on that box as possible.
the top of the plate close to the front will have to be ground down somewhat and i pointed it out to him but it wouldnt be much, just enough to let the boss for the pin of the tongue to clear.
he said he was happy enough to take a bit out of it with the grinder if needs be.
the customer supplied the plates as he said he had a bucket already that he measured it off and that worked.

I have just come from abom and I do like his style
he is damn good at his job ill give him that, altho there be times the measuring is taken to a upper eitlean of a level but then again, everything fits just as it should.
he would keep you sharp while learning all the same.
he has a nice workshop there hanst he.

as they say round here, youd take the eye out of a wolly sheep hi.:)
when the bars were cut originally they ended up with 4 short pieces so rather than buy another lth he allowed id join the 4 short pieces to make two long ones.
when that was done they ended up just about long enough hence the recesses.

:) and here was me wrecking my head trying to think what technical reason there would be for leaving them flush, trying to google other pictures of riddle buckets for to see what it would be :)

fear not, they will probably last longer there.
and of course, rule #1, the customer is always right...

:ROFLMAO:, i wouldnt be gassing or using the plasma;) to cut them out, if something like that ever has to be done, i carbon arc it.....
Sorry I don't belong on this thread I came in the wrong door I don't understand the terminology used in here:rolleyes:

aw now, sure ya know me..
its a bad addiction Hi..
bought a right few bits and pieces but it id look like i was bragging if i went a listing so id rather be humble.
one thing i bought was this,
a drill grinder, an expensive little toy tbh so i dont know if ill keep it or not, its eating no grass so it can stay for now, oh boy can it sharpen a drill tho...

I thought the drill doctor was a luxury but it's paid for itself twice over. I'm guessing that one will take a bit longer but if you start keeping all the blunt bits they add up.

Is it just drill bits or lathe/mill tooling

would many of ye watch keith fenner, abom, tom lipton, or ave to name but a few on the tube, the first three there are masters in the craft of machine work, ave is like marmite but i like his style.

All excellent machinists. You should try "Doubleboost" on YouTube. He is in Newcastle and is excellent. Cracking little single garage workshop and he is a proper old school type of guy when it comes to engineering. He does a couple of videos every Sunday called "Sunday night nightcap".
