Farm saved WOSR - Roundup

What are the risks of using osr seed that has been desiccated with Glyphosate? Normally we swath rape so don't have this issue.

We have a strip unsprayed in the field but due to error it is not the correct bit. Variety mix grown from 2 yrs homesaving.

The area grown from new seed has all glyphosate and this is where I want to homesave from.

Anyone been doing it without problems or had serious issues?

It seems to be fine, I ran out drilling headlands last year and put some off heap came up and yielded exactly the same, does make me wonder about buying expensive seed!!

Everything we cut is direct cut and so had roundup, never sown any out of heap but I would say the best germination is losses in the field eg sideknife etc. I would be more concerned if you had dried it but straight off Combine would not concern me

Glyphosphated, dried, left in trailer for 2 years and got bugs in. Still near 100% germination

Get it tested if concerned??
I usually leave a tramlines unsprayed for FSS but have taken sprayed seed from the heap if needed and never seen an issue...

Tray drier at low temp so never had a problem with drier killing germ.

Dad took a hand sample yesterday so will soak it and test germination.

In the past I've used osr, wheat and barley and it's always been fine.
I think the key is to make sure the round up has gone on at or after the correct timing and not too early.

I remember a seed sales man once telling me that roundupped seed would grow upside down so roots came up and shoot went down and if it did emerge there wouldnt be any grain in the ears!!!!! I didnt deal with him much after that[emoji35]

No risks on any crops from roundup’ed seed. Just another load of rubbish from the people selling you things.

I have never worried or had problems with any other crops. Just checking about osr but thought it would be fine.

Does anyone remember the problems with Ritz SOSR. We planted two fields of it to replace a failed WOSR crop 10 or more years ago. Certified seed with test germination that just did not grow.

Get a germination test done for what it costs if your concerned. Buying new seed is no guarantee. Bought some new seed 2 years ago, a limagrain variety, drilled in a field alongside another variety, never wanted to get going, I sent a sample away and it didn't meet germination standards. Turned out it was 2 years old and had been over wintered dressed!
