While out filming a promo with the new 7810 John notices a leak in one of his tyres and realises the sidewalls are full of cracks waiting to split. The 7810 will have to get a new pair of boots!

John's not relying on his old fella this time when it comes to cleaning up his 7810. First step - get her mechanically sound. With some overheating & braking issues it's time to send for a pro. But the question remains... what did John buy himself for his birthday? The big box reveal will happen at Sloan Agri when we get a little further into the 7810 repairs. The 7810 is getting a few modifications, the parts are not cheap and what else could she need before silage at Alan Clydes farm. A good tractor mechanic is always useful with the right tools for the job and John wants the tractor left perfect before the machinery madness begins.

The John Deere is still in the workshop and after an issue sourcing special bolts but Mr Alan Clyde is the unlikely candidate to pull John out of a hole. Book torque and mechanic torque are not always the same thing. The tractor is now being rebuilt but still a few home made modifications to be made. Hard to believe the price of parts especially when its a tiny brake valve but if you are going to cart silage you need the green machine left right. Has the previous trailer man been sore on the pick up hitch?

The Hitch is off the tractor and taken to a different workshop with the right tools. A bit of precision engineering but the angle grinder still needed before a root weld. New pins are made in the lathe and after a touch in the hydraulic press then some professional welding, its not long until the pick-up hitch is good as new. Never forget the grease, a few nuts and bolts tightened and shes set ready to cart silage and should keep the trailer attached to the mighty john deere 7810

The 7810 is getting her final few finishing touches... beacons, cb, radio & the hitch re-mounted but what we're all really eager to know is how fit is she? Right on cue we hook up to Brian Horner's dyno capable of measuring up to 880hp and Joe keeps us in criac while we're at it.

First proper days work for John at the wheel of his 2nd 7810.... has it been the right choice to trade the old one in with less hours for the younger 03 model featuring the TLS, 50km/h roadspeed and Autoquad gearbox? The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say when he hires out a Bunning dung spreader to haul Alan Clydes farm manure to his furthest away ground.

After a warm spring day spreading Alan Clyde's farm manure it was pretty clear to John that if summer ever presented itself in 2020 that the performance of the 7810 air-conditioning in it's current state just wasn't up to scratch. You need to stay cool when the pressure starts to build in the hot-seat so it's another mechanical repair for the John Deere and another bill... but she's worth it ;)

Find out more about how to setup a pair of McHale mowers for optimal performance and some technical explanation of their design features as John gets the 7810 ready to roll before Alan Clyde gives the thumbs up on his first cut grass.

Saturday night and we get the green light to mow a neighbours grass... next challenge is how to film it and drive? Send for the old fella... John wanted his dad to experience using a front mower so with the new Zuidberg front linkage fitted and the McHale mowers already yoked up this was the perfect opportunity. Watch to find out Leslie McClean's opinion of the combination on the John John Deere 7810 and stick with it until the end to find out why Alan Clyde hasn't already cut his first cut silage.

Silage time again at Clyde's Farm but this time the 7810 John Deere is really pulling her weight mowing grass for Alan with the Mchale doubles. John has the young apprentice keeping him right as Eva's education starts young but the big question is will Eva ever marry a Farmer? Luckily John can divert the conversation and worry about that in another 20 years. Will the rain clouds circling spoil the party? Will Alan's home brew conditioner tines stick the pace? Will Deere overheat? Stay tuned ;)
