Feeding wheat to cows.

What moisture content is it? Surely the cheapest way is just to tip it in a heap and mill a bit little and often?
Around about 15/16%.
Mobile mill was plan A, just thought I ought to investigate other options.
Could I process it cheaper myself using caustic? Are their cow health benefits to other methods ?

Cheap and easy are good for me.

So what does the urea do? Presumably add protein? Anything else? I can feed rolled wheat without it , so there must be some advantages
Adding protein, increasing PH to approximately 8.5 - 9, making it safe to store at an increased moisture level and therefore ability to roll it without it going to dust.

Harbro maxammon, Norvite Alpha, Powergrain and home n dry are all similar products.

Much kinder on machine and man than caustic.

How much is it per ton?

Think I read that you treat it whole then roll in as and when you need it?
Yes treat it whole and roll as required but either way works. I now add water and rolling later allows it time to soak into grain and then when you roll it you get a nice flake rather than powder.

Cost wise its around £20 a tonne but that may have risen due to urea prices.
