Fendt 826

Seem to get more engine problems with 800 series for some reason. My local firm had a 826 and 828 but they are big lumps for our area ( narrow country roads )and after a couple years down sized to 724 s ( they already ran some) as it's more general purpose. They bought the 800 s to pull a 4m DTS drill but now have a 724 with wheel weights and it's more steady speed wise especially on slopes but with W weights removed they have a good all rounder rather than a big lump.
On those hours , I would think it would either have to be cheap and take a chance and be prepared for maybe an expensive breakdown or leave it alone. A 930 would be a better bet.

It’s just the reliability. You do here some horror stories.

That’s the thing. Plenty of people are keen to tell/post horror stories about all makes of machinery it’s not so exciting to talk or post good news.

I run both Fendt and JD. Fendt are consistently cheaper to own for me. I bet someone else can come on here and say there have it the other way round, I’m sure they would be correct for their situation.

I don’t have an 828, but a bought jd when I was looking for tractor that size. 828 was nice to drive and it was a very close decision.

That’s why it is nice to ask on here just to see people’s thoughts/opinions.

What is there to look out for on a 2011 826.? Anything major or small little problems.? Or stay away.? Tractor has 8000hrs.

we have an 828, 2015 model, just past 5000hrs. It’s been a fairly uneventful machine so far. 6000hr warranty and dealer serviced. Was down for about a week last year for a persistent issue with the adblue egr thing, which was warranty. Would’ve been in region of a £6000 repair as they ended up replacing the whole unit.
other than that, the only issues have been very occasional electrical probs which haven’t stopped us and have been repaired on rainy days.
I quite like it, ours is profi spec not profi plus, was bought to pull 7/8 furrow plough, 5leg flatlift and pulls our karat based osr drill.
it wouldn’t be my first choice for a lot of road work as I find it a bit clumsy and blind compared to our valtra 234.

when ours was getting the egr done the dealer lent us a 12 plate 828 profi plus with 10,500hrs on it and it was a lovely machine, felt tight as a new one, so 8000hrs is nothing, I’m aiming 10-12,0000 at least out of ours.

thanks that’s good to hear. Don’t do that much road work mainly plough or mowers.
The one I’ve looked at is a Profi plus.

I see you have a 234, I priced a 724 against a 254 and the valtra was €45k less , I bought the 254 and with 1400 hrs on it now it has been faultless , I often wonder what more would I get if I spent the 45 k extra on the fendt. As your saying you prefer the valtra for certain jobs.

Either you are lying through your teeth or you are not comparing like for like. New for a 1400 hour one isn't the same thing. I call bullshiit.

We have 3 64 plate 720’s up for change this year all around 10000 hrs. Theyve depreciated less than the john deere and MF’s that are also going but have not done as many hours. Fendt are the cheapest ownership out of the 5 brands we run and yes that includes a valtra. I had a 828 for a few days and quite liked it and if i was looking at something around that size it would be top of the list above a jd 7290r definately?
