Hi, we are drilling abit with our fendt and 3m combi. Rtk gps working good. Usually i just do an a.b line but was wondering if its possible to use on headlands? Would a contour line work while marking the boundry? Also is it possible if i mark the boundry first that the gps knows where to lift the drill?

Ive never had much luck doing a continuous contour line around the whole headland .
What i do now is record each headland as its own contour. Then just swap tracks on the 2nd time around. Can usually swap tracks while the tractor is reversing. Have the right tab on the screen makes it easier to create new tracks and swap tracks. Im not saying its the right way but it works for me and much more accurate than doing complete contours. I used to find doing complete contours if the signal dropped it would effect the whole contour line. Now if i loose signal under trees it only usually effects that 1 contour line not the rest.

Good imformation, thank u. Usually i just use the gps for the centre of the field but the hydraulic pipe burst on the markers this evening which got me thinking about the gps for headland.

I drill alot of cereals maize and beet and i use gps for drilling the whole field. Its as accurate on headlands as it is in the middles providing your implement measurements are right. Just need to get in the habit of creating and saving lines/ contours. Can also record the boundary for field size and record all your contour at the same time on the 1st lap
I usually save my headlands as 1 2 3 4 etc

@turbokid when you create the field boundary, drive right into the field corners, pause recording then move to the next boundary. Dont just drive round the corner, if you do you the steering will follow the curve, if your not careful it can make the drilling quite untidy in the corners
