Our 1980 Ford 4600 4WD fitted with a Carraro centre drive axle has managed to wreck a halfshaft quite dramatically. In short, the yoke on the outer end of the right hand side inner (longer) halfshaft has failed so the whole halfshaft assembly will need to be replaced.
What we're struggling with is finding out the following:
1) What holds the halfshaft in the diff/crownwheel assembly? Is it just a circlip or will we need to disassemble the diff itself?
2) Will the halfshaft and universal joint assembly come out through the middle of the swivel hub if we take the planetary reduction unit off? Or does the whole swivel have to come off
3) Does anyone have a link to a PDF service manual for the 4600 series? I don't mind paying but would rather a confirmation from someone who's ordered one before
