Been told this by an ex cop - it can take the entire resources of a medium sized town to deal with one traveler encampment if they kick off - and if they do the ones out and about run amok on the back of it - so often its a deliberate policy to pander to the liberal nice nice they're harmless champagne socialist brigade and pretend their way of life isn't inherently incompatible with civilized human behavior, than be the town in the news that was burnt to the ground by them. Theyve killed a cop - they laughed when being sentenced , and police still go soft on them, plus the police get alot of pressure from local polititians to keep the peace. ShIIIII-t and theving are small fry to ransacked towns and assaults.
With todays police numbers and the paperwork that follows, the entire resources of a medium sized town are barely sufficient to deal with the occupants of a single caravan never mind an encampment! :cautious:

A bloke on my cricket team had his van stolen during a match by Pikeys with his tools in a few months ago.

He was told of a sighting of the van in a traveller site about ten miles away (power of Facebook). He broke into the site in the middle of the night and stole his own van back. He’s got bigger balls than me!

A farmer/butcher not far from here had a cattle box pinched. Traced it to a local camp. Him and a few other went and fetched it back included the pikies 4x4 attached to it. Got his trailer back and gassed the 4x4 up.

Like you say. Wheelbarrow required for his balls.

That ramps things up for a revenge return though

Only way in my opinion, to tackle all this and other large scale recent lawlessness, the luvvies, and wokes, left wingers will not like it? thats police zero tolerance to crime, come down hard on it all, stop and search etc etc. Dont get me wrong nothings "perfect", but years back in Newyork, USA, then mayor rudy giuliani, introduced, "zero police tolerance", to newyorks streets, in that time, it was reckoned, over 70,000 people, were saved that would have died as a consequence of crime, lawlessness, many of these by the way were black
As much as I agree where would the arrests from the zero tolerance arrests go? Prisons are overflowing.
