Govt finally realised the problems of Renewables as the primary source of UK power?

explain more please
The latest wind turbines use hydraulic pumps to turn hydraulic generators any excess hydraulic pressure can be stored in hydraulic accumulators for later use when the wind drops. Its not new technology Geneva had a similar system using water turbines producing water pressure overnight to be used by industry the following day. The pressure relief valve originally being the spectacular water spout in the city. Other cities with well developed hydraulic systems being London, Manchester, and Liverpool. Antwerp in particular harnessed this hydraulic power for electric generation.

I think a little more reading about hydraulic power generation is required. Such systems wrre in vented to overcome power distribution issues. To store energy using such a system requires the sort of plant as is at Dinorwig. To suggest it can be done on a small scale is I suggesta little fanciful. Plus power losses arelarge

Actually power losses are very low thats why they became such very large systems. It has nothing to do with the type of technology used at Dinorwig as its all about pressure and the inability to compress liquids.

No the power loss in hydraulic using steel pipes is very low but it is only useful for transmission of power it has very little ability to store power since you cannot compress a liquid. I was referring to early electrical power transmission where it Wass considered not possibly to transmit any large amount more than a few hundred feet.
The only way to store any amount of power in a hydraulic system is raising heavy weights but the amount of kinetic energy stored is msmall unless you go for a Dinorwic style system

Have a look at high pressure pipeline systems and power generation.

Yep pumped hydro for peak demand like Cruachan (y) (y) (y)

Greenies would never stand for flooded valleys though! Although there seems to be several new stations are being built...

Vlad is angry cos nobody loves him , show my arse in Burtons window if he enters the Ukraine

Trump would have sorted this whilst Sleepy Joe was having a nap

As for the EU :finger:
Boy oh boy, aren't boots taking a long time developing those pictures of that arse in the window of burtons dont'cha think!?

The whole thing about ukraine was (simply put) it gave up nuclear weapons left over from russian times in exchange for protection in the advent of problems from the likes of russia or other neighbouring countries doing exactly what has happened, so we effectively failed them in 2014 with crimea & then procrastinated further in 2022 when russia's cross border "training exercises" & later "special operations" kicked in.

Pretty damned embarrassing & costly result that.

It was linked to the 1994 Budapest memorandum, of which UK, USA & ....RUSSIA signed (plus a few other countries to varying degree's)
