I’m think ahead for lambing time, I breed pedigree Jacobs and I need to find a way to grow my tup lambs more as they just weren’t big enough this year I was wondering if there any tips on how to grow them from lambing in February to sale in early August. I’m going to keep them in for the first week or 2 after there lambed to learn them to eat meal and was wondering if there’s anything else I can do or feed them.

catch 22 , feed hard , grow lambs on feed , but will melt with new owners , take them steady ,not big enough to attract interest ,
Many of these pure bred lambs are fed from day one, often indoors ,(many wont show a profit over and above a few headliners ) other option is to sell shearlings, steady first year let rumen develop , and push hard the second for sales if you must

Don't turn out until may, then into tyfon/clover, in at night with access to only expensive ram mix no forage, is how I've been told, anyhow that's not to mention, recipient milk sheep, and a milk bar etc, then look forward to show success and a string of disappointed customers? I certainly have a rather embarrassingly long list of abject failures, when presented with a grass diet to live on! and an ever increasing list of blacklisted flocks.

to add clean first year leys with clover( as above ) or catch crops , but remember lambs although will look the part will have limited resistance to cocci / worms when sold .
