I just stuck one into google and it came up with no hits, so I’d guess it’s not public information.

Yes I tried that but didn't find much of use either

We are looking at adding a free credit option to Farm Marketplace shopping and FarmDeals buying group but to do so need to verify that the buyers are legitimately a farm business, in the case of Ltd companies this is easy enough but as many farmers are Partnerships and therefore not on companies house database I thought maybe SBI / CHP number maybe the answer

without access to a database to check against its back to the drawing board I guess


Any ideas ? how can you verify a farmer is a farmer ?

I think there used to be a site where you could look up BPS payments ? If I could find it I would assume the CHP or SBI number would be listed there ?

https://cap-payments.defra.gov.uk/Search.aspx I dont think it has CHP or SBI numbers on it though, not even full address just the partial post code.

It is free so worth having but only if you regularly buy stuff from there.
As an indication to it's value I have not had one for years. If you are buying spanners and air filters/batteries on a Sunday its worth it.

i get regular bits and bobs from them, because they open till 8 for useful later collection .
Interestingly the last time i ordered oil and filters for delivery from them, it came directly from euro car parts.

As to the original question, how are the fuel companies verifying red diesel users?

Why? Surely your credit licence/ underwriter isn’t that fussy, are they?
