The link below is for a company selling 'false' acacia, it doesn't give price and they only suggest (not guarantee) a 30 year life, but they are up and running...

If the OP can offer a good price and beat these people with a genuine 50 year guarantee (which I still think will be a hard thing to do), he'll have the UK market in his pocket within five years.

Good Morning
Go to www.builddirect.com You will see some photos of machined Acacia. To answer your question, Acacia does not split, does not warp, does not crack, does not twist. does not rot, Insects cannot invade it.
If you use it as a post, it will outlive you, your son, your grandson and will be standing when your great, great grandson is running the farm.
Can you nail into it though @Fencemaster ?

Sorry for my previous post, I thought you were a Ugandan cold caller asking for my mothers' maiden name.

I used a fair few WBK marked posts and from what I remember they were always well sized posts. Sorry to hear of your troubles.

I dont see the need for 50 yr life, the wire will have rusted by then, 30+ year life is what's needed so wire and wood get replaced together. Imagine having to re wire posts instead of re posting wire :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If you form a group financing collective, I will take a party to the mill producing these products. You can negotiate directly with the mill yourself. I will also give you details of a liner service that will ship the goods from the most economical port directly to the best UK port who handle liner services, 2 of good note are Howdendyke, or Hull.
You can, as a collective charge each member a small handling charge to build op your coffers to help fund further bulk purchases, possibly wire, or nails or whatever else you need in bulk on a regular basis. You do not need to keep pouring your money into merchants that are ripping you off selling you products they know full well is not suitable for the job.
All I ask is you pay my flight cost and hotel (max £300)

Yes as long as you are not using nails manufactured in China,

A TFF whip round/crowdfund?
Or an order sheet on the forum, see how many would get ordered if it's worthwhile, then find someone on "the where would you invest 50k" (or however much it was) thread who would buy it, google search for sawmills cutting it and away we go!

I can probably help source some acacia or any hardwood from Indonesia for pretty cheap really. The wife and I got a single piece ironwood dining table from there recently, know a few people there who might be able to get fence posts cut and shipped.

I'm interested, get me some info and il have a container load for next year
If you send me your preferred specification to fit 20' container (approx 25m3) or a 40'0 container (45m3) packs are approx 1.0mx1.0m x Length ( so a pack of 2.1m strainers is approx 2m3) I will get you a price. (a little advice, only take in-ground products, half round rails & jump poles do not need to be Acacia) you should be able to buy spruce rails very cheaply from home-grown mills. (Unless you want super quality rails)
I will have photos of the mills production shortly, would you like me to post them here
Regards
Brian

That seems like a lot of wasted space in a container. Would it not be more cost effective to specify different pack out dimensions to maximise the full yield of the containers, which will also bring down your cost per unit?

A std dry freight container has 67m3 approx and 76m3 for dry freight high cube, a 20 foot has approx 33m3.

nope don't know any thing about it alot of hard woods have a long life span tho some not that good in ground tho
can be hard nailing tho
same thing with oak. a bogger to staple to.

and twisty grain bits will break off when knocking
for smaller stuff say 4x4 posts its hard to get alot of stakes out of one trunk unless its straighter than average.- so uneconomical in production....certainly dont saw them out of small stuff - would be unviable to grow.
it does deteriorate around the soil line as well over time and after so many years ..maybe 15 ....20 ish the post gets lose and cattle can then push them over even in dry ground.

I wonder if tanalising fluid is available in other countries using the banned materials.
We will be out of the EU soon so perhaps there could be chance of a change back.

Why the hell are these merchants allowed to sell fencing posts that are NOT fit for purpose...it's absolutely disgusting the length of time these posts last in the ground now, it should be illegal...surely it's a case for trading standards....it's a licence to print money for them...they aren't going to make something that will last 40 years as they'll never make any money....my dad bought land 30 years ago and you can pull those posts out to this day and they still look brand new!

Dad bought some posts about 25-30 years ago from act. He said at the time he wished he had sent them back as they are only about 3 inch triangles. We are pulling them out now and re useing them again

Ha! I have done that! I used to rent a field that had fencing in older than the 85y old that rented it to me! It was their when his dad brought the farm apparently Old railway boundary fence - It was old railway sleepers, split into quarters, soaked in bearing oils from the railways and the bottom diped in pitch. Only a 50m run but they were a nightmare, the staples rusted off the posts!
