Anybody else getting so pee'd off with this process of ‘identity verification’ and information gathering that they are prepared to tell them where to stuff their bank accounts? I’ve wasted hours on this in last 2 months, between various business accounts and partners private accounts and financial products we must be into double figures of accounts and been trading with them for a lot longer than I’ve been alive ( back to the midland days and beyond)
Local branch is closing in august, looking at which banks are any better?

I think they are all the same now tbh.

Clydesdale have a habit of declining a card transaction then ringing you 12 hrs later on a withheld number and refusing to speak to you unless you give them your token response. Obviously you don’t have it with you so you have to assume they have declined the card and then go back through to work which it is.

I think they all have to do this tbh, to satisfy the Financial Ombudsman (or some such quango 🙄).
We had to do it last year with Natwest. Pain in the backside.

I had a phone call the other day from a solicitors wanting to go through a veryification process.
I was expecting it, and quite happy to proceed when she spoke, but the phone number did not match
So I said I am happy to do it but would she mind if I called back through the main switchboard
Did this and it was perfectly correct , except I now cannot get back to her as the number I need to call will not accept incoming :banghead:

Paid in a cheque yesterday into my wife's account. Hadn't been into s branch for several years. Lady told me they did I know you can now only pay cash into your own account? I said there was little point in cash if it ever saw a bank account.

I wrote on bottom of comments page to them when they sent first reminder and threatened to close account ,
and in roundabouts way said we had been with midland bank since day dot and seems a bit odd after all this time to ask for ID of who we are and that collating all this personal info into one central point is going to make security issues worse not better because if hacked the scammers will hit jackpot ang won't even need to go phishing for info!
