I’ve been offered a field of wheat that has had no n so far this year. Pictures taken today is it too late to gain any yield boost with expense n I have left. Agronomist says it probably will be too late and it’s looking dry for the next week or so here.

Get some bagged AN, or some with sulphur. At the very least it will green it up. Not a lot. 50kgN.

Fert is cheap now and protein is dear. Also looks like you're "doing some farming" so might get offered it for another few years.

No chance of getting it again as it’s getting developed. So don’t want to waste anything on it.

To be honest, all the wheat of my childhood looked like that, owing to the ancestors being unwilling to put more than 2 cwt/ac of Nitro Chalk on.
It will still do 2.5t/ac if you keep disease out.
I'd spend the money on a decent T2/3. With Mn and Mg.
And furthermore, if it stays damp and sunless for grainfill, all these "dead cert' " 5ton crops will be chicken corn, and that will be nice and plump, just like when in 2012, the best sample in the field was the starved bit around the hedge backs.

With wheat price where it is I wouldn’t bother taking it on unless you need the straw or you can get it for next to nothing.
years ago must be( 30) bought a poor standing crop of wheat at roadside auction when the auctioneer knocked it down to me i put the straw up made almost as much as the standing crop and the wh yielded about 2 t /ac one of the better deals ive done
