I managed to get my little Case stockman tractor stuck in a bog, so I walked to our next door JD dealer to beg for help. They very kindly lent me a huge electronic monster they had in the yard, but I couldn't work it without some tuition. Off I went up the road and along the narrow track through the woods until I arrived at my destination, then I realised that the branches had knocked the door mirrors back and I was trapped in the cab.. Eventually the fishing bailiff came along and rescued me

I have a very old Ford Ranger that's just used on the farm. It clutch has gone so I have to start it in gear and change gear by matching engine speed to gear speed. I try to always stop facing down hill so I can start it first then let it roll to get it into gear. Must get a newer one soon.

Me and my dad where in the family car and the clutch cable went bang flat to the floor, he said never mind I don’t need a clutch and drive it with no gears all the way home, I was about 14, I still drive with no clutch now when working up the gears without thinking, some people think it’s not possible!

In some parts of the world having a manual vehicle is a "security device" as many "young" people are unable to drive one due to their lack of physical/mental ability or complete lack of coordination..... does not bode well for the future...

There seems to be more instances in this thread of the older generation lacking mental ability to move tractors....

Imagine the horror if it was the 135's predecessor and you had to use the gear lever to top right to engage the starter.

MF engineers through the ages had a dark sense of humour. I nearly ended up on the Alton road not having had the quirks of multi-power explained to me .

They were something else!
had a 5610 that was bombproof and the column change never went wrong in 9000 hours we had it. Also had a 6610 that couldn’t go 100 hrs without sh1tting itself

That "Rubiks Cube" column shift was logical to an engineer but a b1tch to accelerate a load with.

It's getting plain silly now with the radio controls being duplicated on the armrest.....

I was reading a review of a new car (forget which one, I've no intention of buying one anyway) and it said to adjust the climate control you needed to navigate through 3 levels of the touch screen

Did you ever get Ford Couriers/Mazda B series up there?
Or did you get something completely different, a ute that even Ford didn't want to inflict on countries apart from the UK/EU?







Not even mentioning Falcon or proper Holden utes either....

Father would pass his pocket knife to me and ask me to start the MF35 with it. I wasn't strong enough to swing the starting handle on the older MF35 4 cylinder.

@Bald Rick A farmer who is a member of a large group of farmers growing veg and stuff on the Suffolk coast went to his neighbours, pulled in the yard with his truck, went to the office and came out to find a large fendt parked behind him, He got in said tractor and managed to start it, but after several minutes could not get it to move!! Turned it of and got out slamming the door, his watching audience laughed and clapped! He was not amused. True story, so your not the only one!!

Yeah. I could start it. Then I was totally lost in a sea of buttons and other stuff.

Our local dealer sells Fendts. Pointed to a new 724 the other day. “How much?”
