Hello guys.
Looking to buy a Jcb telehandler.
It is a 2001 maschine it will be imported from Denmark.
What are you're feelings about this maschines ? Reliable handy? Visibility? Spare parts still aviable?
It has done round 10 k hours .
Will use it on a small mixed farm( arable and livestock)
She will do a lot of muck loading ....
Any advice at what to look for will be welcome.
Thanks

Like any TH 20 years old - it depends how it has been maintained in it's previous life, what work it has mainly done and is it just ready for several thousand of repairs - how long is a piece of string?
But generally the machine is basic and reliable with spare parts available from a number of different suppliers and had a good following in it's hay day and was a sort after used machine and still is in the current market.

No machines closer to home ?
I've a 520s, basically a similar machine, but the 2
526s has inboard brakes on the axles not in the hubs like mine.
Same as @Sparkplug said depends on how it's been operated and maintained for the last 20 years. Check the crowd/tip linkage, last time I enquired it was over £1k just for the parts (pins bushes seals etc) nevermind the machining costs to the boom and headstock. But a good simple machine.

Well yes there are 2 close to home one is a 04 reg plate with over 10 k hrs the seller asks 21k for it and just a bale spike and pallet atachment for it but the thing is sluggysh i dont like how it drives ......the pump he says that must be replace in 1k hrs or so .

The other one is a 09 reg playe with only🤣 1413 hrs ....it has the single digit round counter and i dont trust that he asks 22k

I go with jcb just because the dealer is close to my farm and the resale value

Anyone else find it funny people moan about the price of machines when buying but then want the one they think has the best resale value   it rare to have the cake and eat it:X3: :)

526s is a decent machine though IMO, best in its basic form with manual levers, inboard brakes not in the hubs, i would pick the later JCB engined ones over the perky ones IMO

O dont complain about the price of the maschine my budget is way bigger ...but this year my dad retired so i taken over the farm ....i dont want to spend to much money on a TH .🤣 in case of trouble i have some deposit ....im thinking in keeping it for a couple of years and then sell it and buy a newer one.
Btw it is my first TH now have 3 loader tractors ....

526s is a good machine. Design was right, build quality was good then.
Manual gears, joystick, no electric solenoids to go wrong.
We are on our 3rd 526 and the first one the 526s was the best.
They wear badly at the front of the boom, the tilt linkage will get loose no matter how much grease it gets.
Perkins engine is ok but has a habit of leaking coolant at the timing case.
Later model with engine at the side is more stable and better rear vision.

I would buy a side engine model....but in my price range there are none....where have you used them? Dairy? Farm? They really are good maschines if ya own 3 off them and didnt think changing the brand😊😊😊

Should i say

Here a TH is not that common .....farmers tend to go with schaffer and weidemann...a pivot steer than a TH so no much off knowledge....i prefer the TH for stability

Hello again....yestarday the 526s pulled in my back yard...had some work with the muck grab...and realised tht there is some play on the boom in the back end of the boom....it swings left and right a good 2 or 3 cm ....could be the wear pads or what could be ....? Thanks

Possible there is wear in the pin and bushes at the rear of the boom, if it has not been greased enough, most will move a little bit sideways, 2-3cm wouldn't worry me but you wouldn't want more. There is a big pin goes through the rear of the boom, telescope ram and there are brass bushes in there.
Or is the wear between the two parts of the boom?, wear pads in there can be shimmed to take up wear.

The whole boom has a that 2 3 cm play ...but the inside ram..or boom i( dont know how it is called) it has some play too ...when the boom sits on ground it is straight...when i raise it up it leans right a bit it dose not stay straight in mid air....this damn virus screwd up the deal....i couldnt go and see the TH myself...because the pandemic...the damn lorry driver tested it and said it was good maschine....i trusted him because he said he imported maschinery all the time and knows where to look🤔😐😐😐😐😐....my next question is ....would be a big $$$ job?to fix the wear pads and busches? Off course it will be done by the local jcb dealer cause i dont know how to do it ...and neither got time ...thanks for the answer/advice....cheers mate🤗😃😃
