The first of the 'debates' is in a few hours, utterly artificial, but it will be interesting to see how the two perform.

Hillary apparently won the debates last time around and won the popular vote, but still lost the election.
On they basis, the debates perhaps aren’t important.
But then I recall Obama making a hames of his firdt TV debate against Mitt Romney.
In the follow up debate with the VP candidates, Biden hammered Paul Ryan. Obama afterwards credited that performance from Biden with saving the election!

I'd entirely forgotten of Ryan as anything other than Speaker; thinking back, he was supposed to be the 'sane' element in the Romney campaign... :ROFLMAO: Unfortunately Biden simply isn't the man he was back then; I feel genuine pity for the fellow, he seems 'wandered'... but we'll see - it may all be a clever act, to make President Trump overconfident.

Rather sad to see two elderly white men who are probably the most powerful on the planet reduced to slagging one another off like five year olds. But apparently it was the Trump game plan to try and provoke Biden into a slanging match, which he naturally assumed he would win. From that point, it looks like there is a bit more to Biden!

Hmm... I didn't watch the whole thing - who would? :woot: - but, in an effort at impartiality, I have now seen the bits that both sides claim were their man's best and...

Biden was not as awful as I thought he might be, but he certainly didn't make any 'killer' blows, he allowed himself to digress too readily, and forgot a lot of obvious points in rebuttal. Worst of all, he seemed incapable of taking the 'moral high-ground' even when it was served up to him on a silver salver. :banghead:

President Trump also failed to get in any major blows and he didn't seem to have that many decent 'points' anyway, I am left thinking that - strategically - he probably came off best, just. Not because he had the better arguments, which he didn't, and not because he was the more plausible and articulate, which he certainly wasn't. I think he came out on top because he got Biden to sink down to his level... :(

I was about so watched it live from 2 until just after 3 this morning when I flicked the cover onto the ipad and drifted off to sleep. One of the joys of being a late middle aged man with increasing insomnia!

Well two old men arguing. First impressions - on the physicality and presence of the two. I thought Biden looks his age. Trump looks more active and alert. As for the substance - well it is American issues so a bit beyond my comment.

I did though listen more intently to the section on Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act. As I have an interest and think we all should about how the US system compares to the NHS - as I consider the NHS is possibly not sustainable in its present form and US operators may get involved. I note Trump calling out/attacking Biden as a peddler of socialist policies and making much play of socialism. As the socialism Trump calls out is our system in the UK I find it rather odd.

My conclusion. Trump was Trump and I expect those who support him would be satisfied. And Biden - to me he came over as physically old and weak - a nice man but a president - well not sure he is physically strong enough _ I would be looking closely at Harris!

I thought the President acquitted himself very well against Chris Wallace (Registered Democrat) in the debate. Mr Wallace threw in a couple of curve balls and was in quick to defend his client...……...err I mean Mr Biden when Trump looked like he had lying sleazeball on the ropes!

I think that's the Dem's plan, if they were to win in November.

12 months of good ol/creepy Joe, and citing major health concerns, he has been forced to step down as POTUS.

Replacement will be KH, and let's see what the next three years have in store for them.

Anybody see the irony of the scorn the great American capitalists especially Trump have for socialism?
Way I see it now, Is these same moguls not paying any tax, are in fact benefiting from a version of socialism! Everybody else picks up their tab!!!

Was telling White Supremacists to 'stand by' one of Trumps best bits?

The bit that confuses me about Trump is his complete bare faced lying. Almost every claim he makes is completely false, if you dig into it. I watched a few of the video clips and found myself constantly saying 'that's wring', 'that can't possibly be right'. Does he actually believe it himself?

Would it have been better if it had been 2 elderly black men? Black Lingerie Matters after all.
