Yes but here you have two people dead and another maimed for life probably because a kid played too much Call of Duty. Suddenly folks electric fences being nicked doesn't seem so problematic.
You have said several times you wouldnt protect property, well that is totally up to you but although I'm now an old codger I bloody well would defend mine from theiving scum. Be much easier with a gun than a pick axe handle. If the UK allowed us to shoot theiving bartards under a strict set of rules it would reduce farm crime enormously, most crims avoid confrontation IF they think force will be met with force. We shouldn't even be having this discussion if the authorities did their job properly

Even the Border Farce cannot protect us from daily invasion/s. I have been the recipient of thefts on a couple of occasions,it is not nice and no reaction from the indigenous authorities whatsoever. Goods ( trailers & tractors) never recovered, culprits never apprehended. Welcome to the UK 2021.

Everyone is keen to have a pot shot at some mythical intruders out trying to steal diesel but then realise that the mythical intruders, if the USA is any measure, are more than likely to be armed as well. Would you rather be the victim of a robbery or a murder?

The views on this thread are absurd.
Granted, the people who died were no angels, and rioting is clearly against the law, but this 17 year old travelled to another city armed with a semi automatic rifle with the purpose of assisting the police with law and order.
In the process of doing so he shot dead two men and injured another.
Those are the facts.
How on earth can that be acceptable.
The police neither asked nor required his help.
He was 17 and had a semi automatic rifle!

The views probably seem absurd because those 'facts' are wrong and/or incomplete.

He didn't travel to get to Kenosha, his father lives there so he lived alternating weeks in the city. Kenosha could definitely be called his home town.

He didn't shoot anyone while out on some vigilante patrol, he was walking past the attackers while headed for another business at the outskirts of town when the attackers reportedly mistook him for someone they had quarreled with earlier. The first attacker (Rosenbaum) tried to grapple Kyle but he dodged and began to run away, a third person fired into the air with a revolver which made Kyle turn around and seeing Rosenbaum lunging for his rifle he opened fire.
The mob then chased him several blocks while he was running towards the police cordon and when he fell onto the ground an unnamed attacker jump-kicked Kyle who fired twice but missed, then Anthony Huber came in and clubbed Kyle on the shoulder with a skateboard before grabbing the gun, Kyle shot him once in the chest.
After this people backed off except for Gaige Grosskreuz who had gotten his (illegally carried) revolver out and began to aim at Kyle who, pardon the pun, disarmed him by shooting Grosskreuz in the bicep.

Once you read what actually happened rather than the opinion pieces you realise this case was always a very clearcut self defence scenario..

Would they risk it for 20 quid of diesel ?

Except out in farmland USA if someone decides they are going to attack you, your family or steal your property you have every right to take whatever action deemed appropriate, knowing that the law will back you all the way.
We take property rights very seriously in this country.

Roger you better check the law in the state before you pull the trigger on a car thief. You could end up in a bad position.

The second amendment in the US stands between a Totalitarian Government (Which the Biden administration most certainly aims to become) and a freedom loving people. In the UK "we the people" have no such defence.

221 knife deaths in U.K. 2020 vs. 19,380 gun deaths in USA for same period.

I’ve posted before too, but here’s the crime statistics for your sleepy backwater town of Monte Vista Colorado. https://www.cityrating.com/crime-statistics/colorado/monte-vista.html#google_vignette

It’s plain to all sensible people that the US system is not working.
Not sure that the UK system is working that well either really...better than USA maybe but still poor and seems to be getting worse. 12 year old girl stabbed and killed by 3 young teenagers just the other day !
