Keeping geese off crops

Any tips? I've got a 2 acre lake in one stubble field that has a few hundred greylags and Canadas on & I don't want them stripping off the osr half a mile away. I hate gas bangers and want to keep them for pigeons later on. Rockets? Day + night rope bangers? Luckily there's a chap living on that farm who has shot a few with a rifle which keeps the rest on their toes. There is evidence of the geese landing on the rape crop but not grazing it yet. I'm paranoid about them devouring it on a full moon.
Let them on the OSR, great way of getting the larve out of the stems, then shift them on before the spring growth starts 👍
Also nice to put a few in the freezer, breast threm out, feed the rest to the dogs 😎

Find a natural challenger for these geese that don't harm your crops such as a dog. you can keep him well fed on a few geese that you shoot. Tie them out in the field with several hundred feet of leash. Shouldn't be a problem thereafter. would bears eat em? if so maybe putting those near a lake would be a great idea.
The problem is the solution.

Our shooting man tells me that the car is left there so they accept it as part of the landscape, then you use it as a hide to shoot them from.
Best to get one with a sunroof then .........

Loads of footpaths full of Guardian reading walkers here, so shooting any number wouldn’t go down well. Even the pheasant shoot don’t bother at that end of the farm.

I’m told the previous tenant got a load of folks in and netted a big number behind the woods one year. Not sure that would reduce numbers for another year, or whether they would be replaced?

Put up a sign saying field recently sprayed with roundup and they will all keep well away 🤞

The leader of the local ‘Energy Group’ is very anti-Roundup, but also thinks it’s fantastic that I am direct drilling rather than burning soil carbon. He seemed confused when I pointed out that I couldn’t do so without glyphosate.😂
Did he have the look of a man put in a round room and told to go stand in the corner :ROFLMAO: Maybe you could shoot the geese then burry them where they fall, tell any complainers your are combatting global warming by harvesting them to sequester carbon into your soil (y)

Laser pointer ex China works well here also use rockets, rope bangers, fert bags on posts (1 to 3 acres) but the ultimate is a heavy rifle (270, 308)into the middle of them. Full moons are a pain <7000 grazing March wheat fairly helps tillering
+1 for the laser - they absolutely hate them!

But the drone can be operated from the kitchen table or bedroom.... :)
Not legally though as you have to keep them in visual range. I'd also be concerned about the effect on the drone of colliding with a large bird!

Cars worked around here as workers from the oil rig yards were cruising around the side roads shooting them out of car windows.

I've heard a cut out depicting a fox stood up in the field will keep them off.
