Legal towing weight for Jeep and 3 Axel Trailer

Trailer is allowed to weigh a maximum of 3500kgs including its load.

The empty trailer will probably be about 1100kgs if it has sides on it.

You need to look at your vehicle's registration document to see what it's allowed to tow.

You may also need to take another driving test.

He didn't say it was a cattle trailer. I have a 14' tri axle but you couldn't put any bullocks on it, they would just jump off the side.

My guess is 850 kg for an empty flat bed and a towing capacity of 2.8 ton so just short of 2 ton. Assuming by Jeep you just mean any old 4x4 rather than one actually made by Jeep.

Poor advice. You're significantly out on the trailer weight. And until @Trench Box gives us more details like what the towing vehicle is it's pointless trying to guess.

Which is why I used the words "guess" and "assuming".

Ifor Williams lists the trailer weight of a 16' triaxle flatbed as 845kg. I don't consider 5kg as significant, whether the trailer is a flatbed or cattle trailer is significant and so is knowing the actual towing vehicle.

Was the op question not some kind of cryptic quiz then?

I agree with Kidd’s. I have a landcruiser and the most I can legally put on the drawbar is 2800kgs.

So if it’s a big heavy trailer it reduces the legal payload.

The dealer I bought my trailers from told me he has no end of problems with fellas bending the axles on the triaxle cattle trailers.

Which begs the question what weight are they carrying.
