Machinery dealers and bad service.

Is it just me or do machinery dealers not seemed bothered about leaving small customers in the dark? and only chasing big customers. I’ve been chasing a local dealer for the last 3 weeks about purchasing a new piece of kit I’ve tried phone calls seeing them and even a text to See if they’re going to email me. I was hoping to start using them as the dealer I was going to purchase future tractors and machines from but they the way they are now I’ll re think about it.

I’d agree with you.ive emailed and spoken to all direct drill manufacturers last October and again at crop tec and Lamma and only ones who have replied are mzuri, claydon and weaving.how many times do you have to call people.i could add loads to this but dealers just don’t bother and woukd rather chase the big boys.

Its the same with everything, i'm wating on two different plumbers, and two different electricians, i'm on my third dairy engineers, and have just changed my preffered agri merchant.
All my bills are paid at the end of the month, in full. Everybody seems to be chasing all the big jobs, and then all you hear is them complaining how hard it is to get their money ?‍♂️

I know it’s bad texting to get a email but I just don’t have the time to keep ringing them while at work.

I thought going in and seeing them would help them think I wasn’t going to waste there time but obviously speaking to people face to face doesn’t seem to do much, shame really as while I was there some other pieces of machinery caught my eye for the future.

Shame as there the only dealer within about 80miles that supply sumo and a few other brands

A text to see if there going to email me! :ROFLMAO:

Says it all really.

Get the boss's number and move up the feed chain, and let him/her know communication is poor.

They must think your a time waster.

Very common that some companies/staff really cannot be bothered. The use of email is a strange concept to them... Possibly they would be happier if you Facebooked them!! Crap service I call it.

The boss/manager is usually as bad, if not worse, in such outfits.

Contact the manufacturer and ask for their recommendation of a dealer. When Joe Bloggs Machinery are suggested, you can pass on your findings ;)

We've bought machinery from all over the UK with no problems. Contacted most of them initially by email.

They wouldn't know me from Adam.

My friend bought a new trailer at lamma from a dealer hed never used before.Trailer turned up 2 days later (free delivery as well) and the invoice followed a week later, from a dealer that didn’t know him, first time using them. . Now that’s what I call service shame they don’t deal in what I need as they’d be my first choice.

I’ve had the same problem with our local dealer, In the end I just ended up buying direct off the manufacturer, If it’s something sumo you want speak to sumo direct they will sell bits to people direct if you push them enough.

i wouldn’t have normally asked for a email/text to be sent till recently, but when I’m asking for various prices on wearing parts and possible extras it’s handy to have something to reference for costing rather than trying to remember what’s been said or looking around for a lost peace of paper that’s been binned.

Spot on. I tend to ask for a Whatsapp or Email in such a situation. Both can be printed out as a an aide memoire, something vital with MY memory these days!

An email/text/whatsapp message is the best method for many farmers to communicate IMO. You can do it late at night, early morning....whenever. No farting about waiting for a call back....

I had the same problem a few years ago when I was looking to change the combine. Went to lamma looking at class and new Holland (not new) and couldn’t even get the reps off their chairs, both at class eastern and Aph which was a bit of a shame as I’d dealt with aph a lot in the past running a TF78 and found service very.
Ended up buying a John Deere
