MF 7718 vs 6718

[Massey Ferguson 6480]

Looking for peoples opinions on the above 2 tractors. Arable work mainly, 4 furrow plough but that mite become a 5. Trailed sprayer, 3/4 bag fert spreader, round baling, carting straw and silage bales both on road and field. Ground is generally quite steep. Both similar tractors but does one have an advantage over the other. Thanks

Demoed a 6718 a few years ago to replace our 6480 which is the original style one. Was very similar in size and had more power. But the cab was not as quiet as the 6480 and the noise was very rough. It's the only tractor that has ever given me a headache when I've driven it all day. Needless to say we gave the 6480 a thorough overhall and full dealer service and she's still here now

Got a 7718 exclusive dyna. It’s a good tractor.
Main work is on a quadrant, fert spinning and a 3m Amazone combi.
It’s great although I’m beginning to think that a 160-170 horse tractor is adequate for our needs.

Yes blooming good valtra engine but not very refined

My 6715 handles a 5 furrow with ease.
And 1800kg in spreader. I got front linkage so weight is nicely forward

We’ve a 6716 I don’t like it but the lad who drives it loves it punch’s well above its weight in fairness, the 7718 would be a more comfortable tractor with the different front suspension and be quieter in the cab

We replaced a 7618 with 6718s. Both Dyna 6 Exclusives. I really like 67 it goes very well, but its not a 76/77. The engine sounds terrible!! We've named it 'Belle' as it sounds like a cement mixer! It pulls very well as long as you keep the revs up. We did put on the 3m Trio the other day running legs shallow at about 6 inches. It coped really well 1500Kg on the front. Flat fields but I was shocked how well it managed. For the fert and spraying 67 be great but if its going to be your main tractor get the 6 pot, the noise will do your head in otherwise!

On sprayer 67 better. Haulage not a lot in it. Heavy work 76 was a lot better.

I'd imagine the 77 will hang on better, be more reliable, more stable and sound better, but then I worship the straight 6. #noreplacementfordisplacement
In all seriousness tho, reports vary but they say these 67s are gutless fekkers. Mind I've a pal with a 6713 and his dad drives it one day and decides that it's too slow pulling the bale trailer and gets it mapped to 175 horse...

Had it nearly 7 years, it’s great.
sisu 6.6 is a great engine, although in the 175 valtra they us the sisu 7.4 and that is supposed to be really good.

biggest muck spreader we’ve had it on is 18tonne and it handled it fine on some good banks although it was dry underfoot.
It’s done everything we’ve asked and so far been reliable.

Just bought a 7s 190 so I clearly don’t listen to anything I previously say!!

We got a 6716, gona need a re map to be anywhere near good for haulage. I must admit i would much rather have a couple 6480 than one newer tractor.
