Michale V660 net wrap problem

I must say, whilst not the biggest disappointment I can’t see what all the fuss about McHale is. I bought a baler on recommendations here and sold it after the first season and the mower whilst being strong is massively heavy! I won’t bother looking there again.
Their bale wrapper was a game changer when it came out,but a lot of their products since have copied the best bits of others. The Fusion baler being the exception to this, tho even here I think they have been caught and passed by others now,Kuhn in particular.

I have to agree with your comment I’ve driven a succession of my friends Mchale balers and they are very well built and in general reliable balers but i find that the way you have to feed the net when loading a new roll on the latest F5500 a total faff compared to the Claas balers I have run and my latest baler a Kuhn. My friend also has a Fusion 3 which he bought second hand with a very low bale count, it’s been a complete arse of a machine with all sorts of problems, such as monumental blockages that have taken hours to clear, sensor problems and the inability to produce a bale anywhere near as solid as his Mchale baler.

If you look in the side where duplex chain turns rotor you can see its range of travel. Net can go round the end of roller not letting if fully swing in. Also check the belt is okay that drives the roller. Take the belt off and turn it by hand, have had bearing go on that roller too.

If you put it into manual and just power net drive, where is net getting too, bunching up?
We've been having similar problems (although we suspect it could be to do with rusty rollers as it's stood for a while) how do you get to the "net feed in roller " (can't even see it listed in the parts manual )

It,s very annoying, i,ve had a few niggles with my 5500 netter, if the rubber roller is not of a certain standard the net will wrap around it, the knife has damaged mine yet the rep on the phone said the knife can,t hit the rubber roller, but mine has. I,ve just ordered a new one at £550 cause the baler is fing useless as it is. Seems to me it,s what lets the mchale balers down, i can,t remember a breakdown that has stopped me baling, just the netter that plays up. It got so bad today i was getting off every bale, now, anybody that does baling would not put up with that for long. I had to get someone else to finish off. The other problem now is getting the part, Monday if i,m lucky, you would think with all the balers in the UK there would be a parts department here. Busy time of year and the baler is parked up over the weekend, for that reason alone i might switch brands.

Oh dear, sounds like many of their products have gone backwards.
Got one of the very first F5500. On it’s 10th season and never had to get a mechanic out to it yet. Was planning on changing next year but sounds like I’d be better holding on to it as long as possible
Why did they change the netting system on them? Mine has been faultless. Wouldn’t even know how to adjust the brake or knife on it as never had to.
A revelation after 4 Claas rollants:cry:

The early one was a copy of claas. Patent police maybe caught up with them.

Works way better than any Claas one I ever had.
Constant game of will it, won’t it. Then out with the spanners to adjust the brake. By the time you had it just right it was nearly new roll of net time and the the fun started all over again;)

For this season we’ve replaced our 2016 v660 with a V6-750. I don’t at all think the product has gone backwards. V660 was by far the best round baler we’ve had, and I’m confident the replacement will be every bit as good, or it seems that way so far. Early days but seems very good.

@KB6930 always says they've gone backwards. Mines 2011.
I'm led to believe they got a bit better again last year by someone who got a new one but he's still not happy with it and he had 1 roughly the same age as yours.

I did our first cut the beginning of the week and first time since 2015 we're happy with the stacks 4 days after they're built and life driving a baler in silage is happy again glad we made the switch back again.

I remember when i purchased mine in 2013 (new shape), the fitter that pdi it said, I don,t know why they changed the netter set up, the previous one worked really good. I have had lots of issues with mine over the years, the main problem is net wrapping around the rubber roller. I have had the big spring break twice which in turn has damaged the rubber roller, this has increased the chance of net wrapping around the roller even though i have tried to smooth it over. I had to give up yesterday as it was doing it every bale and some one else to finish off.
I was thinking of changing the baler next year, do i stay with mchale? the kuhn baler looks good.

Would it be any different at the moment if you switched brands?

The F5500 must be due a revamp shortly so hopefully a better net system might be one of the changes.
Our one came straight from stand after Agriscot in 2011 and other than netter I don’t think there have been many alterations to them since initial launch.

Ours is such an early one the plate on it says it’s an F550 and that’s what the user manual is for. Even the control box if a plain black rds unit rather than mchale branded one.
How could they get something so right then have net issues going on since 2013:scratchhead:

I presume you mean getting parts, probably not but I did order a cat part for my th, arrived the following day. I think backup for a lot of stuff is cr#p at moment, is it me or do the supplier s don't seem to give 2 fuc#k when you get the replacement parts.

Parts are so dear now nobody wants to keep anything on a shelf, also the currant merry go round of franchises moving won’t encourage a dealer to carry more than the fastest moving parts so a slippery slope really. Local dealers also charge a fee if you return a part now so must make sure the part ordered is the part that is needed. Service therefore has inevitably gone down hill.

1st day out with the baler. Struggling to get net wrap to start.

Driven Feed rolls running ok, net brake free and net tension set at 2%

Any ideas?

Will get dealer out to it in morning as its new if I can't solve it.

It's very different to the NH system and I haven't quite got it Sussed yet.
Just started operating one myself, having the same issues as you. Also did you have any issues with the chamber sensors??
