MST end of an era

Go back 40 years and most of the equipment here would have had a MST sticker on it
For us it would have been Hawkes ( Taunton, Galmington) for Ford, Ransomes & New Holland or Lucases SP? next to the river by Taunton Market for any MF kit, with just a bit of Gliddons of Wiliton

Sad news for all involved. I’ve bought from them in the past but ended up switching brands after they quoted a very uncompetitive price and failed to supply a promised demonstrator. I know I’m only a small 1 man band but that shouldn’t really matter.

Blimy! I didn't know that either. That's a shame. We got our Kubota fert spreader from them.
It's a good job that it's a Vicon in disguise! I can at least get bits from James Pryce Tractors.
That must be quite recent then?

2 or 3 months ago? Edit: administrator appointed early Dec
I had an RTV from them.
Got to deal with Vincent's now. But was told they're opening another depot in the area.

I worked in the tractor workshop of the Tiverton branch of MST for a few months as a 1st year apprentice. Just a few days ago I got the paperwork explaining the closer. The short answer that the company was bought by a company who buys other company’s around 2012ish. The company was doing really well as far as I know up until lockdown when two of his companies (parkins and roofing supply south west( I think?)) shut down. The debts of these companies went back to hq and they lumped it on the only profitable company in the group: MST. They also took out some business loans during lockdown so the debt kept piling on and on. The south petherton branch closed to combat this debt but it just wasn’t enough by the looks of it. We heard that they CEO of the company approached Massey with a plan for MST. To liquidate and start over with mst from the ground up. MF basically said that was a sh!t plan and pulled the plug giving us parts and computer licenses for 6 more months but they just decided to shut the company. In total on the spreadsheet they were at least 1.7 million in debt by the end of it all. So there you have it really. We only found out on Tuesday the 27th of march that all work had to be done and all machines had to be off site by the 29th and the locks would be changed the day after. We all had a bad feeling about it all because Massey had taken all the tractors that weren’t paid for on the Monday. All the unsold tractors that the mst owned however were taken on the Wednesday. I all the vans had to be stripped of tools and the workshop had to be cleared out. I had to store a customers mf 185 in my parents straw shed because we couldn’t get ahold of him!

So theu made the only profitable company unprofitable and let it go bust while the 2 others continue to trade?

Makes absolutely no sense what so ever.
