Thanks. I didn't dream it after all. I'm almost slightly disappointed. ?
Of particular interest in that article is the claim that the Rover/Land Rover version was particularly efficient. :ROFLMAO: The author's idea of efficiency is on a different planet to mine.
i once drove a lwb six cylinder with a trailer it did about five to the gallon :banghead::inpain:

They went bust. They deserved to.
At the time they were the longest established Land Rover and Jaguar dealer in the whole of the UK.
Some descendants of the Greens family are now selling cars out of their premises in the industrial estate by the closed-down slaughterhouse, trading as PMS.

Greens are still trading in Haverfordwest as Land Rover service dealers. Established in 1846.

As i said, the new company name is Pembrokshire Motor Services. They may trade as Greens in part, but it is not the original company, which went bust. They also trade as something or other ‘Italia’ for Fiat and Abarth if memory serves. They now have a franchise for Nissan and Jeep as well, but no LR franchise. For a LR dealer, Pembs is officially covered by Shukers Aberystwyth, although there are a couple of service only dealers, of which Llanybyther is one and also possibly whichever of the Green family company they choose to put it through at Withybush

Greens used to be a large firm, fuel , ag , electrical and cars. Apparently the largest LR dealer nationally, selling to the MOD.
On the Ag side I remember my father recalling waiting in a queue at the “Churnworks” , they were MF dealers, chap swanned in, went to the front of the queue and was served straight away. My father was livid, that this happened and never bought another MF again.

They were Ford ever since I can remember, going back well into the 1960's.

If that’s the case, they should not be stating that they’ve been established for over 170 years. They trade as Greens at Withybush - Land Rover service dealers and Isuzu main dealer. I believe PMS trades from Salutation Square.

'They' as a family have indeed been established for 170 years but not as the same company and obviously not as the same family members. Are you actually in denial about the collapse of the company some twenty years ago? Are they actually trading under the same name as before… Greens Motors Holdings, which was their company name from 1919 to 1999?

In the last few years, besides the franchises mentioned, at Withybush they have briefly held franchises for LDV, Citroen Parts and Mitsubishi as well as Land Rover/Jaguar Parts and the current ones. I seem to recall that this site was also the subject of one part of an episode of 'The Marshalls are Coming' or 'Can't pay, we'll take it away', not sure which it was.

This is the profile of the manager at Greens Withybush from LinkedIn….
"Director at Greens. Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom169 connections ... I run the car sales side of Greens in Withybush which is owned by PMS."

Not in denial at all. I’m saying if they went bust, they should not be claiming (as part of their company logo) that they were established in 1846. That company is no more!

The family firm was long established. Does it really matter that they re-established themselves and claim a continuation? As far as the family is concerned, it is indeed a continuation of the family business. Not the same legal entity of course. Also there must be several branches of the family by now, probably running diverse businesses, either connected or not to PMS. That's the way things go over time.

I remember dealing with the LR/RR sales director back in the 80's at Salutation Sq. Can't remember his name just now, but it wasn't one of the Green family. Not by blood at any rate. Just remembered his name as being Peter Walker. Anyone remember him? He was there for many years.

He was OK with me, but I imagine that he may not have taken any prisoners. :jimlad:
i remember talking to a chap who had a haulage company about Peter Walker he said he went in there one day and was looking at a jag pw said to him there is nothing in here you can afford, granted this fellow was in his work clothes, but that is no way to talk to anyone, so the customer went up the road and bought a merk, the first time he filled it with fuel he went to greens and tapt on the window and pointed at the merk and gave him the thumbs up
