This first linkI don’t think the EU really wanted Brexit to run smoothly either without extracting their pound (or 2 or 3) of flesh as recompense for the UKs audacity in voting to leave. At least Westminster can’t hide behind the EU as an excuse now.

Why are loyalists making threats over the Irish Sea border?
Ex-police chief says ex-paramilitaries are a ‘real threat’www.independent.co.uk
Refers to this , going on from a month ago
Unionists are already calling for Article 16 of NI Protocol to be invoked and they have good reason to do so given how it is panning out

But in this, Gove makes out it's only been since the EU cockup and it's their fault.
But it's been happening for over a month! Nothing to do with what's just happened!!EU officials withdrawn from Northern Ireland ports following threats to staff from loyalists
Brussels copies stance taken by local councils, saying ‘We have asked them not to attend their duties today’www.independent.co.uk
And Arlene has been calling for article 16 to be invoked, but when the EU accidently added it to their draft, she went apeshit!
Firstly it wasn’t ‘accidentally’ added, it was deliberately put in there and approved by UVDL and her cabinet and it wasn’t a draft. This first link

Firstly it wasn’t ‘accidentally’ added, it was deliberately put in there and approved by UVDL and her cabinet.
Secondly, are you really that surprised that Arlene Foster was up in arms at the thought of Article 16 being used to disadvantage NI, even after having asked for it to be used to help NI shortly before?
Can you not see a difference that may affect her opinion on the two different scenarios? I’m no fan of hers, but I really don’t think the people she represents are have much fun at the moment.
Just noticed that; if Parliament had wanted any longer, it could have ordered HMG to make the time and HMG would have had no choice but to obey, we know this because of the superb remain-backed Court case that got the Supremes to restate the bleeding obvious - that Parliament is Sovereign. But Parliament didn't want extra time, so it didn't demand any.
I will not argue points of constitutional procedure as I haven't a clue and you will be far more erudite in reply than I can ever be. All I will say is the Brexit Hoodlums and Vandals have waffled on about taking back control and holding to account our domestic politicians. All of which I have thought is phish. Indeed I can recall more than a few Brexit hoodlums on here saying this. And then when it comes to an important moment - as you say fought for by the remain action these same politicians are found wandering off in no mans land. SO all that take back control and hold our UK politician to account - bollox. Nooughts changes maete as us old Fenmen would say. Same old, same old. Ah well best of British.
The point, if you bothered to read them, was the utter sh!t Gove lying and twisting what's been going on for a month into " since the EU " 4 days ago!Firstly it wasn’t ‘accidentally’ added, it was deliberately put in there and approved by UVDL and her cabinet and it wasn’t a draft.

Plenty in my garden if anyone wants some. The sparrow hawks have eaten the thrushes so now have a surplus.I say...
Ban all imports of l'escargot.
Quick rinse in chlorine and jobs a good 'un.Surely this is an opportunity to move processing and jobs to the UK instead of yet more outsourcing. The added benefit being that the EU will no longer be the major beneficiary (or is that fishery) of our catch.
Perhaps we should ban all imports of soft cheese until it has been "purified "
Certainly should be making more capital out of all that chlorine washed salad. And olive oil and Spanish salad....
Certainly should be making more capital out of all that chlorine washed salad.
Yes.There are a myriad of salad producers worldwide and also multiple sources of olive oil and similar products. I believe the government should be seeking to streamline supplies of these whilst any of European origin are quarantined for 72 hours because of Covid-19 fears.
Yes.
As I've stated before elsewhere.
Back in the day, I hauled many artic loads of produce from the world over, from sea ports and airports, to wholesale markets, pack houses, supermarket distribution hubs, etc.
All fantastic gear.
I remember when Harold Wilson limited the buggers to only being allowed to take only fifty quid abroad. It can be done. The ultimate hammer would be for the government to state that anyone holidaying in Spain etc this year will have to self-quarantine at home when they return... British holiday makers would soon choose alternative destinations in that case. Soon see how much they like it when no tourist coin heading in their direction.
The problem is that the purification requires keeping the shell fish in certified pure water for a couple of weeks . This is water without and bacteria or virus contamination from sewage etc. which is not easy to find around the UK.I read this.
It's about the fact that shellfish need to be processed to remove harmful agents that would cause harm to humans.
This is normally done with the EU, whilst the UK was in the EU the processing was done outside of the UK. Now the UK is a 3rd party country it has been regulated by the EU that no imports of Shellfish can occur for processing.
Which is weird ..
However I would have thought this is a potential opportunity. All processing creates an added value end product. What is required is a UK processor which can then export to markets or alternatively provide goods to internal markets. Of course those markets don't all have to be the EU either.
Obviously the added value would then apply to exports at the higher value.
Whether the UK government gives grants to such an industry - which I understand currently gains transition support - is matter of policy.
