Off-set flail toppers

I am looking for an off-set flail topper for cutting maize stubble, stewardship plots and grassland. Also for cutting rough stuff and siding up hedges etc.

There are quite a few options (Maschio, Kuhn etc) that go to 2 or 2.2m wide and designed for verges and ditches but not many that go wider.
Weaving have 2 models that go to about 2.8m but I wondered if any go wider still. I appreciate weight and balance becomes a problem but will running it on a JD7530 so should be ok. Needs to be offset as got wide tyres and don’t get a clean cut on grass when run on first.
Also any experiences of the Weaving WFN and Agrimaster FN would be great, thank you!

Have a look at the Perfect models. I demo'd one and it was good. In particular it had good clearance outside the wheel base. In the end I bought a Maschio one that is also good and ws on a special price but I would otherwise have gone for teh Perfect one. Better thatn the Kuhn.

Muthing or maschio
Maschio has a good range of fully offset and have found they quite well built.
If muthing go for the heavier duty model that has more belts, well worth it.

Got a KRM 2.5

Built like a tank, had a Maschio 2.1 at the same time which seemed no where near as well built.

Done around 40 acres with the KRM since getting it two months ago - Case MX135 knows it’s on at times!

Use to have a Weaving Agrimaster , around 2.6 m wide . First one was weak but second one ( around 2008) was much better and stronger in the right places. Really useful bit of kit especially as I had a front 2.5 m on front links. Biggest issue was extended right out as wide as you could , PTO was very long and guard tube could get wobble on /worn / hot/ damaged so that when you brought it in narrow ,the tube could split or detatch from the ends and spin.
Use to do around 750 acs a year but sold in 2015. Would like another one now so keeping eye on this thread.

Highly recommend a Agrimaster FN series. Ours is donkey years old and well built, used heavily. The only change on new models is they don't come with a rear hatch (which is good for reeds) and gearbox is inboard so the PTO is less exposed than something like the KRM above.

Have got a KV 2.5m here purchased last year - seems go well... its the heavier duty version... I can't comment on whether its better or worse than others as we havent had another side by side. We did look at a Muthing also which was our preferred option but were concerned about supply availability last spring in lock down so went for the KV which was in stock. Interestingly there was £2500 saving going for the KV over the Muthing option. FYI we purchased a 2.8m front topper at the same time and the saving was for the 2 machines together.

Now someone has posted Weaving offerings, it was the Agrimaster FN 2.6m that I use to run ( maybe 2.8m , not sure). The picture in the download looks identical to what I had and mentioned above .
See they do a Blade 2.6m off set with a different design which gets rid of the over long PTO.

Anyone tried the cheap ones that are on eBay?Some look pretty good

Been thinking about one of these offset flails for doing down ditch banks? In theory they can do it but has anyone used them for that or is it difficult to get them far enough away from tractor? On the subject of cheap machines has anyone looked at the Kelfri machines they look value for money? Or just scrap?

Ditch banks is mostly what our krm does, once round the top then once in the ditch, can't quite get to the bottom of a big one but does most of ours. Shame its just a massive pain to get on and off a tractor, never got a manual with it so maybe it has a method for doing it easily.
Not the same as a flail but the kelfri bag lifter we have is good but the paint is a bit crap, looking in the catalogue seems a bit like IKEA for farm gear

Yes they will to some extent depending on your wheel track (and how close you dare go!) but also will side up a hedge in one run and with lots of power to hack back tough stuff.
