Payment Times From Abattoirs And Other Suppliers

Is it me or are payment times from companies we supply getting longer? At this time of the year I send cattle to a well known abattoir company as I don't want to be pre movement testing to send to market. They used to pay the following week after sending, then it moved to two weeks. If you are sending cattle every week then it could be 3 weeks you have supplied them before you know there is an issue. With the present higher prices of everything am I right to be getting more nervous about payments?
One only has to read about the Scottish grain company to see how things can go wrong very quickly as these meat companies hold even less assets and with C19 disruption to labour, cashflow could become a major issue for them.

Don’t pre movement test any finished cattle or culls going to Sedgemoor on a Monday. Email statement that evening so I know what to expect. Cheque arrives Friday

Just have to look at British Wool they have had our 2020 clip since June last year and haven't payed anything yet. Cashflow is the problem with our customers as well as suppliers

They have always paid when you take the next year's wool in..... or when you notify them that you won't be sending any. Apart from the lack of an advance payment last year, nothing's changed.

The abattoir I supply says they'll pay in 10 days getting more like 21 days.
I pay bad debt insurance, just in case.

My local one (5 miles away) you have to go and ask for the money! Might have to wait a while. It’s a shame because used to be able to drop off on Sunday night and they would pay 5ppkg for for them. But now don’t send any.

I couldn’t be doing with that. Just like bills paid and out the way instead of thinking about them for years
We’ve fallen out with contractors over it. Leaving bills 3/4 years before sending them. They always arrive the day after I’ve just emptied the bank account on sheep somewhere and will be skint for the next couple of months. 🤬🤬

@Hilly will be along in a minute to say you should be putting them through a mart…
