PC Harper’s death was the result of years of inactivity by the police in policing this sub group of society. The individuals had a chance to make a decision to stop straight away but their mindset they have been brought up with is that they are untouchable and can do as they want. This officers blood is on the hands of those in the dock but also many leading police officers and judiciary.

Makes interesting reading. As does the mugshots - "three stripes for life" Adidas gopnik; one with a "fast looking" dog, and the other caught by night vision.

"He told the court he was a "thief" like his father and grandfather, stealing quad bikes and mechanical equipment."

Sigh.

And a travesty that it's manslaughter not murder charge
I hope there families get hounded out of the country. I feel abit for good honest gypsies but there isnt many of them left anymore, majority do not condem the bad ones enough and it doesnt do them any favours. Police should be backed up more to tackle them, alot of rural crime is still mostly done by travellers or irish pikeys

Its a horrific case but if the jurors who sat through the case couldn't feel they convict them of murder (and personally I can see why - beyond all reasonable doubt being key etc) I have to say I trust the legal system here.

It will be interesting to see how long they get sentenced for. Hopefully a long time.
